you all have no idea. most things aren't washed with soap, just water, the pipe under one of the sinks is held up by a soap container and if you move it the pipe disconnects, the water that comes out of where you wash your hands burnt me the other day because if you use it while the industrial dishwasher is on the tap water also comes out very hot, the food is questionably handled sometimes IMO... and this is just what I'm aware of after a week and a half

Golden Thousand-Armed Kannon statue

Of course, it is not pure gold, but gilt. I got this Senju Kannon a long time ago.

At the time I got it, it didn't stand up on its own (it probably came with a special stand and Zushi-cabinet, but it was missing), so I lost interest in it and put it away.

Recently, I took it out, I was once again impressed by the intricate and exquisite carving or casting.

I wonder how it was made. I wonder if each arm was made by molding and carving, and then fitted into each arm one by one.

Or was the whole thing made in one mold and then add detailed carvings later?

The face of the Kannon, made of jade, is also well carved with half-open eyes.

Furthermore, the metal covering around the face must have required a high level of skill.

I don't know the exact year, but I suspect it is from the Qing dynasty.

Unfortunately, the front two arms are missing. But they're only two of the thousand arms. lol

The thousand-armed Kannon saves people with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes.

- mango!!!! I love mango a stupid amount

-chocolate (dark chocolate over milk chocolate usually, and even better if it’s orange or mint flavoured)

- pretty much any stir fry made with udon noodles and lots of sauce, bonus points if it has beef as the protein

so, when do people learn that disliking strangers on the internet is none of said stranger's business (or anybody else's)? like. why are we supposed to care? why are you compelled to announce this to the world? If you're so disturbed by someone, just unfollow them and get on with your life - or at least show some conviction and say it publicly. No need need to justify yourself in some petty display

That’s always been the fascinating thing about anonymous hate on this site right?

I’ve always pictured it as something like Catholic confession. Does it make them feel better confessing their frustrations? Does it absolve them?

Alternatively, is their intention more insidious? Do they wish to incite anger or self-doubt? Is it a rallying cry for others to take their own jab, a la, Brutus et al?

At the end of the day, if people can’t bring themselves to just unfollow or block me, and they feel the need to vent towards someone, I’m content that it’s towards me and not somebody else.

7: I am jealous of a friend’s relationship right now -- not so much who they’re seeing as how happy that person makes them, and it’s a pain in the neck. I’m also jealous of the last person I myself was seeing, even though I broke up with them, which feels extremely convoluted. In a lot of ways they’re living a life I could never be comfortable living, but in other ways they’re really excelling and doing what I’d like to be doing right now, and that chafes.

14: I am very boring and all “what would you do with x dollars” questions get my brain immediately going “stick it in a high-yield savings account” but right now I’d pay off my student loans, pay for my friends’ surgeries, and donate to a shitload of nonprofits. 

19: I already intend to change my name but if I were going to change it purely for my own amusement I would change it to Murray. 

24: Wales, northern Italy, and the west coast of North America. I’ve never been further west than Montana and I’d like to see what there is to see out there.
