Descending into the abyss by PeterThoeny In 2018 I went for a 10 km hike in the Swiss Alps along a ridge separating Appenzell and St. Gallen. To get there I took a gondola lift from Frümsen, then hiked south towards Furgglenfirst, the steep rocky mountain in the back. I processed a realistic, a balanced, and a paintery HDR photo from two RAW exposures, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image.
