Long Post. TLDR; Sensory overload sucks It's still #mentalhealthawarenessmonth right? Well let's talk about this aspect that I don't see brought up much, sensory overload. I'm very sensory sensitive, if too much is happening it gets me very deregulated. Generally it only applies to auditory and visual. But sometimes, like just a little while ago, it becomes a total body thing. It started with general tactile discomfort but spiraled into wanting to scratch my skin off so I couldn't feel it. I couldn't deal with any physical sensation. Not my clothes, not my hair, not my sheets, not my bite guard. Those could all be rectified at least. But I couldn't even deal with the feeling of carpet or flooring, and I can't levitate. I was screaming and crying because it was all too much. I had to pull a sheet fully taut on the ground and lay on it to start to be able to calm down, because it had the least amount of sensory input realistically available. Today was the first time I got this overloaded in a long time, and I don't even know for sure what caused it. It was likely a combination of sleep deprivation, stress, and grief because my degree of sensory sensitivity/overload directly correlates to my emotional state. #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #sensorysensitive #sensoryoverload https://www.instagram.com/p/CAx3WVEgQOu/?igshid=1bqoizo0zg8u7
