Hi Skell! is there a tutorial to make a safe conversion of the separates into outerwear? thank you :)
It’s not a particularly dangerous thing to do; if you do it wrong at worst the clothing will just not show up or maybe show up for the wrong age group. Almighty Hat has an awesome explanation of how to do lots of tricks in Sim PE here, which is where I initially learned it. But if you want to recategorize a bunch of files at once, here’s another way:
Open Sim PE and go to tools, scan folders:
Open the folder containing the files you want recategorize and click scan. Select the files you want and go to the Operations tab and scroll down to the clothing scanner.
Click the category you want to add and click set after each one. It will appear to reset back to everyday, but if you click scan again your new categories should now be checked.
You will need both a top and bottom in a category to be able to use it for separates. To be able to purchase them in a store they’ll have to be set as everyday additionally to anything else. You can’t access the other separates categories in Bodyshop or CAS, but they will show up in dressers and using Pescado’s clothing hack (or other clothing hacks) where you can plan them for your sims’ wardrobe.
I have a feeling that someone said this already (Hat?), but since I can't find it I'll (re)post it.
You can categorize separates in SimPE or the Wardrobe Wrangler, and set them to any category you want. This means you can have tops and bottoms in sleepwear, outerwear, formals, and so on.
- You have to set them as everyday plus the other category, because you have to buy them ingame as everyday.
- Once you've bought the clothes (you need at least one top and one bottom in each category) you can set their outfit with the wardrobe as usual. The top/bottom icons will now be clickable.
It's very useful if you have tops and bottoms that really belongs in one of the other categories, or want them to be able to use the same pants but different tops for everyday and outerwear, for instance. And you also won't need 10 fullbody meshes of the same separate top with 10 different bottoms or shoewear (if you already have them as tops and bottoms).
I just tried this and it worked! I was also able to access the separates automatically with Pescado's clothing tool. I have plans to re-categorize my boxer separates and re-release them someday.
