Separating the copper catalyst from a reaction mixture.
The upper, aqueous phase dissolved quite well the copper-amine complex that I used as a catalyst for an oxidazion with air as an oxygen source. Just a simple extraction and it could be used again and again.
That adorable moment when it's almost impossible to find the black etheral layer above a black colored foam like emulsion and a near black aqueous phase.
