I’ve had the idea of a Separatist AU Anakin and it makes so much sense to me that the real version feels like it’s missing something.

You’ve got General Grievous, who doesn’t give a shit about fighting the Republic and just wants an excuse to murder Jedi.

Contrasted against Anakin, who doesn’t care about the Jedi but hates the Republic with a burning passion for tacitly allowing the slavery that he was born into and that killed his mother. (In this version ig darth maul nabs Anakin as a kid or smth yeah that’s good enough. The duel on Naboo goes the same way but Anakin just wasn’t there. )

Oh and did I mention that Dooku now has two subordinates to wrangle, and twice the number of destroyed capital ships to pay for? And also it’s a sitcom

Edit: Now that I’m thinking about if Anakin wasn’t at the Battle Of Naboo then the Lucrahulk doesn’t get blown up and the invasion becomes an occupation so Padme either stays and that’s how she and Anakin meet or she escapes with Obi Wan

I am so unsatisfied with the Senator! Anakin fics I see. Why? Because I honestly think if Anakin had liberated and ruled Tatooine, he would most likely be neutral to not be in the war, or he would side with the Separatists. Because the Republic never gave shit over Tatooine or did anything about slavery. Of course, he does have that crush on Padme, but honestly at that point he either will be over it, would think nothing would come of it because what are the chances of him seeing her, or he’s not going to let feelings dictate what he needs to do, especially over a cause and people he actually cares about. Canon!Anakin only ever did care about Padme and Obi-Wan, but he didn’t care about the Republic, not really.
