The shots came out of nowhere. Carter, Persephone and a few other gang members were seated in one of the vip booths of the club, Nolan was holding an event and had taken to making sure security was tight. The drug dealer sipped her beer, making light conversation with her friends when she heard the first pop. Her eyes grew wide and she instinctively reached for Persephone. She always swore to Nolan she’d keep her safe if he wasn’t around as she did just that. She stood beside her, withdrawing her own gun as she looked around frantic.
She didn’t feel it at first. It was only when the flash was seen before her and she dove in front of Persephone without thinking much of it. She didn’t feel the warmth pooling in her stomach, she didn’t understand why she was slumped against the couch. Her eyes moved around frantically, her beer falling from her hand and landing in shattered pieces of glass at her feet.
Carter was only aware of the bleeding when Persephone crashed beside her, her eyes welling with tears. She could feel herself growing weaker and her blue eyes fell to the spot her friend desperately pressed against. She was shouting down to her, her screams echoing in her ears as she begged for someone to help, no one would come. “Carter just.. fuck just stay with me please.. please I beg you” Her words were faint, she knew she couldn’t make that promise. She wouldn’t leave the club. Carter let out a soft groan, the pain radiating through her body.
“Tell Nolan to be careful replacing me.. and that he officially won you. Though I have a feeling you would of chosen me.” Carter teased softly, struggling to breath thereafter. She knew it would only be a few more moments, her vision was becoming blurred and the bleeding was only growing worse. She felt warm arms envelop her, pull her close, a soft scent of vanilla filled her senses. “Guess I can die a happy women in your arms.” she smiled softly, trying to calm the blonde down over her own death.
Carter listened to Persephone cry, her words rushed, her screams loud and pleading. “I’ll always be right by your side.” The blonde promised up to her, her own eyes watering. “Tell everyone..” she breathed before her body slumped, her breathing slowing until it ceased, her eyes fluttering shut.
