What are you implying in that gif post? That Louis looks comfortable? Do you think he was and maybe El was chatting with Harry because they were friends? I'm confused.
Hi! You’re wondering about my comments on the gifs of Eleanor and Louis at the 2012 VMAs. I watched the video again, and made new (still rather shitty) gifs. I think it’s important to acknowledge that however we/you/I interpret this, it’s now far in the past—more than four and a half years ago. Since I can’t assume what they were thinking then, I ask a bunch of open-ended questions as I observe.
I guess I’m curious to know if they’re all discussing the kiss. What’s Eleanor saying to Harry? (And sure, maybe they were friendly at the time.) Why does Louis whip around toward Harry? Is it to check his reaction? It looks like Harry shakes his head before he turns toward Paul, on his left.
Honestly, what’s Eleanor doing with her hand, after she nudges Louis (below)? Is she signing to someone, off to her right? But would it even be visible to anyone? It’s a strange hand motion, and definitely not a part of her conversation with Louis, who glances back at her, then again [says something] to Harry.
Eleanor totally prompts the kiss. And no, it doesn’t look relaxed or natural. The way Louis leans back—not even turning his body in her direction…
Then a second peck…and Louis, unsmiling, turns completely away from her.
Watching Louis and Harry (and Eleanor) during a commercial break, I see a real contrast in body language:

(The second video is no longer on youtube, apparently. And I searched for photos of Louis and Eleanor together at the VMAs and couldn’t find any. If there are some out there, I’d love to see them.)
