Toni’s head was spinning once Sweetpea had said he was on his way. Her intent on messaging him back was to get him to stop calling her everyday. Listening to his voicemails only broke Toni’s heart. She missed Sweetpea, more than anything, but she couldn’t bring herself to get passed him saving everyone but her. Toni had told Kevin to make sure Sweetpea knew to save everyone and then her, but they didn’t even look for her. She would have been left to be beat had they not released her. She moved slowly to the bathroom, hoping the damage wasn’t as bad as she remembered. Looking back at her stared a brown-haired, very thin girl, with heavy brown eyes. The first thing that had to go was the pink hair, which she colored out when Fangs was out one day. There was nothing she could do before Sweetpea got here about the thinness or her eyes, so she would just have to suck it up. There was nothing she could do to look like her old self for him. Toni couldn’t stand to see his face when he saw any of her cuts or bruises. Thankfully the darkness in her eyes had faded and they didn’t look as swollen anymore.
All Toni could do was unlock Fangs’ trailer door and the backroom’s door. She had been hiding out in the serpent boy’s bed for what felt like days, only coming out occasionally to make sure he had made it to the couch to sleep or that something was missing from the fridge to indicate he was eating. Even in her state of isolation and silence, Toni still looked out for Fangs. It was her job to, even if the boys didn’t feel they should do that for her too. Toni cracked the door, falling back into the bed and pulling the hoodie over her small frame to try and cover some of the bruises. Sweetpea couldn’t question what he couldn’t see. Immediately, her heart dropped once she heard the footsteps walking in her direction. Toni felt herself curling in once again, knees to chest as she just waited for whatever wrath Sweetpea was going to have for her.
