If there was one thing Emmett knew about Sera, it was that she worked too much.
It wasn’t that he was against work; he’d been raised to believe in working until a job was finished, and it could be as useful a distraction as whiskey or friends. But working was different than taking a night off, and hanging around a nightclub didn’t count as time off when you owned the place.
Which was why he’d showed up to Purgatory dressed for a dive bar instead of a club, weaving his way through the dancers and lights until he found Sera. “C’mon,” he shouted over the music, “I’m parked outside. Gotta hurry before it gets towed.”
