Today we went to the Turtle Conservation and Education Center (TCEC) on Serangan (a small “island” near here that you can actually drive to). They rescue and rehabilitate injured or sick turtles, care for turtle eggs and also raise the baby turtles until they are ready to be released back into the sea. The turtles were really beautiful animals with amazing patterns on their shells. Entry is free and they give you a tour of the facilities, just asking for donations. You can also adopt a baby turtle for 160,000 rupiahs (about €10) and take it to release at the beach.
