if I hear one more person call “Anxiety” by Doechii annoying/bad because it’s sampled, I’m actually going to throw hands. Mostly because it’s all white men, and their issue isn’t that they don’t like songs being sampled, they’re just racist. Y’all had no problem when they made “Fast Car” mainstream country, even though it was a Tracy Chapman song first (A black female artist), but as soon as a black woman makes a song that covers another song, which is also a cover ( “Somebody that I used to know” was a sample of the song “Seville” by Brazilian guitarist Luiz Bonfá) people are all up in arms about how they’re ruining music. Pissing me the fuck off. Music was meant to be sampled from and inspiration was meant to be taken from other artists, like how music originally most like was a mimicry of birds.
