Ellen DeGeneres, Seriously... I'm Kidding
I like to stretch my mind by reading and writing and watching educational TV shows like The Bachelor to learn the complex mating rituals of heterosexuals.

I want young girls to know that they should dream big and that if they put their minds to it they can accomplish anything

True beauty is not related to what color your hair is or what color your eyes are. True beauty is about who you are as a human being, your principles, your moral compass.
Ellen DeGeneres, Seriously... I'm Kidding
I just wish we could hold on to that sense of wonder because sometimes we don’t notice some of the most incredible things in the world. We walk by beautiful flowers and trees every day without looking at them. We rush through our day without saying hi to most of the people we see. We take a lot of granted, and I think that’s why some people say it’s better to live each day as our last. That way we might start appreciating more things around us. Either that or we would immediately quit our jobs to go live in a yurt."

#CBR6 Review #111: Seriously... I'm Kidding by Ellen Degeneres
Another failed attempt at finding a book that helps break the "women aren't funny" stereotype. Ellen Degeneres is one of those people I find charming in small doses. As Dory, a supporting character in Finding Nemo, she steals the show. In the occasional gif set or short video on tumblr, she makes me laugh. But when I sit down and watch Ellen... eh. Her and George Takei both make me want to say "you go guy/girl" as much as they make me shake my head. They both have the potential to be funny, to be awesome people, and I know they're genuine, yet they too often come across as a product. Takei, the social rights activist who makes strained puns and works in memes as deftly as you'd expect from someone his age, and Ellen... I don't know how to encapsulate her.
The best way I can think of to describe her is Dory... without the memory loss. With both, the act can wear thin, though I sincerely doubt it's actually an "act." They seem like such wonderfully genuine people that I'm kind of disappointed with myself for not liking them more, especially due to what the two of them stand for. But I like both more when the humor is left in small doses, and mainly up to others, and they use their platforms to bring attention to important issues, namely the ones that affect them directly. So a book of completely random humor? Yeah, I should have known that wouldn't go well. It's like reading an entire book written by Dory, and I mean that in the worst way. If this is what Finding Dory ends up being like, I don't know if even a Pixar fanboy such as myself will be able to force myself into liking it.
Why couldn't Ellen have stayed Dory from Finding Nemo instead of becoming more than that? I love when actors can turn a small role into something more (think Chris Pratt going from schlubby Andy Dwyer to buff Peter Quill), but many of them are best left to the fringes, like Jack Black or, in this case, Ellen. I'm sure many on here will vehemently disagree. Like I said in my last review, however, it happens... and quite often, so I'm not going to get worked up about it.
