the engagement
Today was strangely normal. By normal, not much of her services were required. The sleuth couldn't help but reminisce over that realization. Perhaps it heavily reminded her of how listless she was left back at her hometown. Inaba -- the day she and her friends solved the murder case though her departure came in a matter of moments. She wasn't anticipating to be pulled away and drafted here to work for the military. Much of this place's functions still made her suspicious since even the Captain refused to share why he didn't wish for her to depart. That was all in the past since he spoke his reasons why he held a strong grip on her. He cared for her and truly fell in love with the petite sleuth. That certainly wasn't something she expected but she gladly returned the feelings after contemplating the matter over a week. She didn't even speak to him since she didn't wish to make a risky mistake. As much as she harbored no ill-will against the Captain, there were consequences to every choice she made. This one involved on accepting those feelings of love and returning them . . . or rejecting them. She had a choice and eventually . . . she returned the same love.
"I raise no rejections to the situation, given the circumstances of my stay. That would explain his heavy treatment against me; it greatly differed compared to us." How could she forget of his moments he spoiled her and never truly raised his tone whenever she failed at something. Her failures didn't result for a heavy yelling but, to the others, he happily raised his voice. To her, he remained quiet and simply patted her head. Not to mention his concerns over her, those gentle gestures . . . he practically gave himself away and others realized it sooner than she had. One day, the sleuth confronted him one on one for an explanation. The truth of it all send her in absolute shock since he never seemed the type to be interested in relationships. You truly can't judge a book by its cover perhaps . . . haha . . . I'm living proof of that and so is he . . .
Smiling faintly, the detective closed her book before checking the time. It's almost noon and she finished reading a book in a few hours. "I wonder if he's alright . . . " Grey hues stared to the window as she got up from her seat. This sight . . . how many times had she gazed to it? Sometimes it was hard to believe that they were up so high in the clouds. It made her feel at ease but . . . if only this sight could be witnessed by her friends as well. Getting homesick was the sacrifice of being with the Captain, in a sense. He gladly took her back but . . . for some reason, she still couldn't leave her duties until the Imperator gave permission. Even Hazama found this difficult to believe. What sort of plans was she up to with not giving her permission to be dismissed? The sleuth lost track of time from contemplating these matters but she couldn't help it. Much of remaining here made her . . . uncomfortable and yet . . . she couldn't leave since she wished to stay beside him. "Hazama . . . I . . . oh!"
Speaking of the Captain . . . He finally arrived though something appeared to be different from before. Determination but also that teasing face he usually made. A simple embrace was given by her and stared at him vaguely. "Is something troubling you, Hazama?" Silence continued to surround them as she questioned him. Nothing so far but . . . it felt strange. One of her hands began to rub her arm faintly, looking to the side. This wasn't helping to advance the conversation nor would she find comfort into keeping quiet. That would cause her to suspect he may have done something terrible. "Hazama, if I may . . . could you please tell me what is troubling your -- . . . h-huh?!" Eyes widened by the sight, it seems he was getting on one knee before her and pulling something out of his coat. Was that . . .n-no this position is for . . . he wouldn't . . . w-would he . . . Practically panicking over the speculation, the sleuth bit her lower lip to calm herself. Maybe she was jumping into conclusions but this position reminded her heavily of a -- . . .
Proposal.
A ritual in which the man delivers his existence to the woman of his desire, as well as entrusting them everything and he promises to be with this specific woman . . . that is what a proposal was to the sleuth. Sure enough, her deductions were being proven when he withdrew a small box. Those words he spoke of were making the sleuth tremble while he took hold of one of her hands. His smile never traced away from his face, keeping those golden hues open to stare at her. Others found his stare to be monstrous though now . . . it was genuine and nice. As she heeded his words, he seemed to be the most nervous about this . . . but why? If anything, the sleuth was truly trembling within his grasp and blushing deeply from her cheeks. Maybe she was growing warmer than a flame but she couldn't help it. This was her first time.
Naoto . . . will you marry me?
The detective fell silent from those words finally escaping his lips, taking note of that smirk on his face. Well he truly shift his feelings about it though his grasp felt as if it was tightening a little. Confident on the outside but scared on the inside . . . did he think she may not accept? I . . . I never believed he would be capable of doing this . . . despite my rejection of not becoming as he is . . . he still chose this path . . . then he truly loves me . . . no matter what form I choose to live my life as . . . Both hands curled to gently tough his hand, giving a smile of her own. However, tears began to stream out of her eyes from happiness. Maybe this is how any woman felt when getting proposed for the first time. After thinking about it for a couple of minutes, his words were the only thing occupying her mind. " . . . Yes . . . I will." She followed with getting down to his height and embraced him tightly, grasping hold of the engagement ring he chose for her. "I will marry you, Hazama. I . . . t-this is . . . you truly are impossible sometimes."
Both remained there on the floor . . . embracing each other until it was evening.
the promise
The assignment for today . . . relocate a device from Ikaruga and make certain to secure the device. Details of its functions are not given out specifically for both investigators. However, the detective was certain this could prove to be challenging. Based on the people who volunteered, it should be more than enough . . . correct? With a sigh, her thoughts trailed off as she was sitting beside the Captain. Hmm Ikaruga . . . I wonder how this will fair out . . . but . . . I heard it's quite a location to take a tour . . . perhaps I . . . Her thoughts were interrupted the moment a hand rested against her shoulder. From the looks of things, the aircraft sent a nice sight for anyone who stared out of the window. But that hand which rested upon her shoulder belonged to her partner: Captain Hazama. Why in the world did he have to startle her whenever she was busy thinking about other matters? "Hazama? Hmm . . . no, there's nothing troubling me. I was simply considering what the device we needed to retrieve. That is all."
It may have been a faint lie. She wasn't seeking into explaining what she was truly thinking since it was not relating to their work. Then again, he rarely minded it since her presence brought him a smile . . . perhaps? That hand never brushed away and he managed to rub it in a gentle, soothing manner. He looked as if he was trying to calm her down in a sense. This treatment of his were all too surprising and unexpected of the Captain. Perhaps he was only being nice to her since she seemed trouble about the assignment. Even a response as 'Everything will be fine, Shirogane. So stop making that face' would be given her direction. As always, she merely responded with a nod before resuming to her thoughts. Why would he be concerned about me all the time . . . he's quite generous but to others . . . he sends off this strange malicious atmosphere . . . it may be my imagination perhaps but . . . "In any case, are we there yet Captain Hazama?" Grey hues viewed of the aircraft to make its landing. Their current destination was finally reached . . . Ikaruga.
Much rumors were spread of its well-known locations to shop; however, the branches here were difficult to locate. The investigators would need to venture into one of the branches and locate the source of the device. No time for fooling around or taking in the sights, thought the detective. But she couldn't help it since she rarely left the 'comforts' of the Kagutsuchi Librarium Branch. Exploring was definitely something the sleuth wished to do before heading over to the branch. Considering the officers located nearby, it wouldn't be too difficult to ask so why not waste a little time? Grey hues shifted to take in the sights and blinked a couple of times. One thing she truly enjoyed about working here for the Imperator was the scenery. This place seemed as if it was from the future where machinery and technology advanced. Little did she know that this was the future but her age was not affected as it should be. Walking over to another direction, dainty fingers settled against the feel of cold pipe as she stared down. This place was up in the sky, as she was informed since people couldn't live further down. In other words, these cities were located in the sky and touched the clouds.
"It's beautiful . . . "
Practically forgetting that the Captain was here, a smile displayed on her face as she stared down from Ikaruga. He couldn't help but chuckle in amusement by the detective's reactions to this. She made it seem as if she was on the very first day. The detective couldn't help but adore this scenery and it made her at peace. A hand trailed to her shoulder to grasp her attention. As much as he secretly enjoyed her expressions, they needed to handle this case before they could do some sight seeing. Whispering in her ear gently, he gladly offered her some time to relax here at Ikaruga once they finish the assignment. Her cheeks heated up from the offer since it felt as if he was reading her thoughts. "A-Are you . . . certain, Captain Hazama? If there are other pressing matters you must attend to back at Kagutsuchi, I -- . . . " A finger pressed on her lips to cease her words and gave that reassuring smile of his. Hazama nodded to keep his promise to her and withdrew that finger from her lips. With that, the sleuth smiled herself before retaining her composure. They headed out for one of the branches to find the device.
The two managed to spend time exploring the shops, dine on some elaborated dishes, and stared down at her favorite scenery. There were only a couple of words she could tell him by the end of the day. "Thank you, Captain Hazama . . . I had a great time here." Sadly, they had to return but he assured her a few words. Leaning over to her ear, he finally whispered those words.
I promise we'll come here again . . .
the annoyance
Everything was in place . . .
Hardly anyone was residing within the N.O.L. whenever the detective appeared. She reigned over a shadow that was far fearful than the Imperator herself. Who knows . . . it may be that both beings could be capable of taking down that woman if they so desired to. A faint smile displayed on her features, eagerly awaiting to see the one who deserved to look with fear on his eyes. What a laugh that may be -- he rarely saw her with fear since his face was something that send fear to the other's eyes. It infuriated herself, truthfully. For a woman to have gained this power, this strength, this potential to become gifted . . . he was the source but never cowered down to her. It was frustrating . . . nearly deserving to relieve some tension. Digits carefully graced some of the papers within her reach, looking them over with detail. Much of her assignments were completed but he hadn't arrived yet. A finger tapped against the desk though wit strength. She managed to let out a growl over frustration on the matter. " . . . Where could he be?"
Another growl escaped her mouth, practically finding all means to crush everything within her path. Was he intentionally being late for the sake of exploring that insane side of her? Obviously. He's annoying sometimes but . . . I won't depart from his side . . . he gave birth to this side . . . this power . . . Either the sleuth was drunk with power or drunk with him. Captain Hazama -- he was the one responsible for making her into what he was. That existence is something which makes her isolated from this world. Resting a palm of her hand against the cheek, another silence drifted within the office of hers.
Tick-tock . . . tick-tock . . . tick-tock . . .
A sigh escaped her lips, biting over her lower lip as the minutes ticked by. Why in the world was he tempting her this much? Before she could get up from her seat, a pair of arms wrapped themselves around her waist. Speaking of the man she was heavily thinking about . . . there he was -- the damn snake. Narrowing those grey hues, her head tilted back to confirm her suspicions. Any other man who wrapped themselves around her would surely die. But he had enough permission to grab her. Those hands trailed up to her chest area, leaving a hand to settle just over her collarbone. "You're late." A blunt response came out of her mouth as she glared at him heavily. Her anger was developing and yet he smirked in a friendly manner, Oh how that was infuriating of him to do. "Why did you arrive late? Huh . . . you truly are a twisted man, insisting on having me to find sick pleasure into killing. All the while, the power grants this body and mind of mine to increase through each bloodshed. If anything, I wish to cease my body from enhancing in depth. These are getting annoying."
By these, she referred to the chest area of hers -- her breasts. She could tell a hand was hovering over it while he responded with a smile on his face. Of course he was interested in her, not only for her body, but her being itself. She was that strange interest he caught sight of . . . far more allured to her intelligence. A woman who was strong, intelligent, innocent, beautiful, and seeking for more were the aspects he viewed of her. It made her ill in a good sense. Somehow this lifestyle brought a shift to how she viewed certain feelings. Though she was certain about her love for him, it was difficult to enjoy it. She saw sadistic natures to be pleasing as well -- screams, causing pain, and so forth. The sleuth changed when it came to her personality but, all the while, there was some humanity left within her. He hadn't made her surrender too much since he fell for the human woman. In his eyes, she was still that woman he adored. A hand moved over to grace her cheek, lifting up her head and adjusted a couple of fingers underneath her chin.
Those words . . . he was whispering something cruel, as always. These words penetrated more than his chains. A few locks of hair were gathered through those fingers and he placed a deep kiss to her lips. For someone who adored her to go into a state of madness was capable of calming her done. Graciously accepting the kiss, the sleuth turned around to grasp his attire and elevated herself up. When he pulled away, the Captain shoved off the paperwork from her desk to place her on the desk. It's obvious he was intending on making other plans for their time together. Details are best left for another time as he gave her what she adored to hear from his lips.
I love you . . . Naoto.
inaba assignment
Another assignment to take charge of; however, the location of the assignment brought a faint smile to the detective's face. If anything, this could be her opportunity to see them once again. Inaba -- that was the location they were destined to take care of an assignment. Both the Captain of the Intelligence Department alongside the sleuth were given orders to locate a missing file. Though they were left in the blue, a file was hidden within the rustic town. That brought a bit of confusion to the detective when she heard about it. How in the world could anyone in the N.O.L. have ever set foot here in Inaba to lose such an important file? Suspicions aside, everything seemed too . . . convenient. Perhaps it was a test to see if the detective would remain 'loyal' to the place she worked for. A shame she couldn't suddenly stay back at her hometown. But . . .
He wouldn't allow me to stay . . . Captain Hazama . . . Grey hues settled to his direction, trying her best to brush away that sad feeling. If only she could remain here in Inaba once again . . . the smells of the town were all too due for quite some time. At least the Captain seemed to be in a good mood. Actually, he always seemed to be pleased whenever she was around. That was something she never understood to be honest. At any rate, the detective flashed a faint smile to his direction before staring up at him.
"Well then . . . shall we be heading off to Inaba? I'm certain with our cooperation, we'll be capable of locating the missing file in no time." Details of the file were unknown but they did work for the Intelligence Department. Their capabilities of getting their hands on the file would come in a matter of moments. If this case resolved itself quickly, perhaps she could convince the Captain that they stay for a little bit so she may . . . relax her. "Captain Hazama, may I ask for one favor? I . . . " Hopefully he could express a little compassion to her reasons for wanting to stay here a little longer. Perhaps this was the medical term as being 'homesick'? "Captain Hazama, please . . . may I -- or I should say --
. . . may we stay for a little longer here in Inaba? I . . . I missed my home."
