SERUG, son of Reu, when he was 30 years old begat Nahor, in the 1850th year of the world and the 2113rd year before the birth of Christ. And he lived 200 years, fathering sons and daughters. In the 25th year of his life, the kingdom of the Assyrians, greatest of all, began its beginning and origin, and it lasted (as Augustine says in The City of God, book 18, ch. 21) 135 years. Serug died on his 230th birthday.
