An appeal to my silly citrus tree, which under heavy mismanagement dropped 95% of its leaves around new year’s, to direct some of its scarce resources towards making some new leaves instead of covering itself in buds.

So I woke up somewhere about... three...? I think...? last night and just. wrote a paragraph or so because what else was I gonna do. Sleep? Ha
(I stopped after twenty minutes because I fell asleep)
But now I have this paragraph that fits the characters good but... not so much the thing I was writing.
I mean mostly I’m surprised it’s actually readable. But do I rework the thing so it fits or set it aside as character interaction usefulness

“Do you mean to leap into the mist every night, until there is nothing left of you to return?”
Erris tenses and swivels their head, owl-like, to glare at Rehu. “Do you intend to stop me?”
“Do you think so highly that I can?” Rehu arches an eyebrow. “I may think that, but I assumed we were all beneath your notice.”
Erris barks humourless laughter, baring wolf’s teeth in a grimace Rehu won’t be able to truly see. “This is a nest for the NightGales. Your kind aren’t allowed.”
“It is still atop a Sanders’ ship,” Rehu replies, hand light on the short sword by her side. It is mostly for show; Erris knows Rehu favours her cloth-wrapped fists, sometimes with spikes threaded between her fingers.
Erris smiles. “I will walk, then, again and again, and always return because I have sworn my sister so.”
Rehu tilts her head, considering Erris. “Jay means much to you.”
“We are sworn to each other.” Erris shrugs an artless shoulder and walks into the gathering mist.
