Steve’d been tired by the time he returned to the present. For his friends only a few seconds had passed, but for him it had been a lot more time. It’d been rough, ... making sure the stones were left exactly where they’d been taken from to keep the other timelines safe had been a harder task than actually retrieving them from the past. So when he’d arrived back in the present, he had announced that after all this, he needed time away from the fighting. Time to get back to himself, to recover. Thinking about perhaps taking some time to travel, see more of the world that he had helped save.
The first few weeks had been calm, just moving around America, seeing places he hadn’t seen before other than on tv or the internet. It was pleasant enough, but everywhere he came he was greeted with those same looks and those same questions. He was Captain America, the first Avenger, and it seemed that people were not about to forget that anytime soon.
So eventually, he turned North. Leaving the familiar grounds behind of America and trading them in for the wild white vastness of the real North as he moved on to the grounds of Canada. There he actually managed to find some more peace, as the people seemed to make less a fuss about him. They didn’t look at him and saw the star spangled man, but a hardworking, travelling young man that was looking for a new meaning in life.
And there, he found it too ... he went all the way to Yukon, travelling beyond the roads and streets, so where the wild was the only company until he found a cabin that was in great disrepair and decided that it would be his new project. Revive the cabin to its old glory and live his life in the wild, away from all the chaos of the modern world that he’d woken up to years ago.
