With the amount of time Bruce spent in the lab, he might as well just set up a bed and sleep there. It was quite hard to hide out when his location was so predictable. Researching and experimenting was his escape from real life, despite it being the reason why he was in such a mess.
The doctor barely even realized someone was in the room until he heard a voice. Looking up from his work, he smiled politely while looking confused. Who was this girl? He’d never seen her before.
“That would be me.” The man nodded.
“Steve? What does he need?” He asked, putting the tools down and giving the blonde his full attention.
She stepped properly into the lab when the man confirmed that he was indeed the Bruce Banner that Steve apparently trusted. Her eyes wandered around the lab, curiosity lighting up within them at all the technology, some of which looked vaguely similar to things she had utilised in the past but most of which looked utterly alien. As though it was fresh out of a sci-fi film.
“Hello, Doctor Banner,” she said softly, walking to stand closer to him, “Steve doesn’t exactly need something, though, he did send me to you. He’s my friend, doctor. And he said that you could definitely be trusted and that you could use the x ray machines here,” she told him, gesturing towards the seat beside him questioningly. She wouldn’t be so presumptuous as to make herself at home in what was seemingly the man’s lab.
She took a deep breath, collecting herself and fiddling with the cigarette packet in her pocket. Lord above knew she could use one right about then, but smoking in the lab didn’t seem right.
“I’ve been his friend for a long time, since we were teenagers,” she told him quietly, “During the war, after Bucky fell but before that blond moron decided to fly himself directly into the damn ocean, something bizarre happened. I can’t explain it, I doubt that I could even begin to try to explain it. But it brought me here, to this century. I, I need an x-ray, Doctor Banner; I need to know that it didn’t harm my child. Steve, he said that you could do that, and that you could be trusted. Please, Doctor Banner, please help me?” she asked him quietly, her desparation clearly audibe in her voice.
