SERVANT (2019–2023) Lauren Ambrose as Dorothy Turner
"She offered to sit for us tonight…no charge. So, if you wanna get a table somewhere…treat me like I'm your wife…or a whore. Whatever does it for you."
Dorothy Turner have you considered getting a wife instead
So was anyone gonna tell me that the girl who sings the songs Leanne’s obsessed with is M. Night’s daughter, or was I supposed to just find that out for myself?
My neighbors are probably worried I’m being beat up cause of all the screaming but actually I’m just watching S4 of Servant.
"I guess people like to eat people."
SERVANT (2019–2023) 4.07 “Myth”
I binge watched Servant (apple tv, pirated) the first season and a couple of episodes of season 2 because I’ve enjoyed seeing Dan Rad play odd characters and wanted to see more of Rupert Grint after seeing him in Cabinet of Curiosities.
He does a very good job for what he’s been given... Which is to say an M Night Shyamalan series given the green light to be dragged out over four seasons where the actors are high calibre but not given their scripts until briefly before filming and no character outline for where this is going.
This is a bonkers TV show and I am eager to see it end because there was an interesting premise, great small setting and instead of delivering a character study about grief, we get higher and higher stakes. Less and less answers. Telenovela levels of characters covering the cover ups with more crimes and acting unhinged and not in the “wink wink Hannibal is a cannibal and this is high camp bizarro-world” way.
To their credit, the core cast is so solid it actually held together way past what I’d accept with lesser acting. Somebody please put this show out of its misery so they can go do highly acclaimed character acting in a story that’ll actually reward that.
5 out of 5 Westworlds. That’s not a good thing. It’d take a Six Feet Under/The Shield type clever ending to redeem this.
