10 minutes of prep = faster repair, possibly one visit instead of two.
Find model + serial number — Door frame, back of unit, or storage drawer. Write both down.
Clear access — Pull appliance from wall, 3-ft workspace on sides, clear the top.
Write down symptoms specifically — What it does, what it doesn't, when it started, any codes, any events right before.
Locate purchase docs — You might still be under warranty without knowing it.
Be present for the appointment window — Tech can't wait. No access = reschedule + possible trip fee.
Diagnostic fee: $75-125 in SoCal. Applied toward repair if you proceed.

Delay in completion
Good morning, my lovely followers! For those of you awaiting the next chapter of Service Call, I wanted to let you know there will be a bit of a delay in writing/publishing. At present, hubby and I are getting ready to (almost) completely gut our house. We have some family coming to help with demo, but there is A LOT to pack and get moved into storage, so that will be taking a majority of my time for the next two weeks, and then we're living in a hotel for nearly a month whilst demo is happening and the contractors are doing their thing. I'm going to find time when I can, but this whole process has been physically and mentally exhausting.
Thank you all for your patience. I promise it will actually be finished (after working on Service Call for two years, you're damn right I'm gonna finish it!).
