okay now that I'm in the stress dream phase of working a service job full time, so here's ace attorney characters on tipping culture (la version, obvi)
phoenix, (trilogy): tips 15% at restaurants and bars, but not at cafes because the baristas don't do as much as servers
miles: in his demon era, the most dedicated server would be hard pressed to get him to leave a dollar on the table. after aa1 he repents for his sins and tips 25% minimum, 30% for good work, and will leave an obscene stack of bills on the table when someone goes above and beyond
maya: smiles and tells the server to keep the change, whether its $19.99 or $.03 because she thinks its a nice thing to do, but doesn't understand how dire the server minimum wage is. after recipe for a turnabout, she tips 20%
mia tipped 25% everywhere, regardless of the quality of service
gumshoe: hits no tip on every screen and makes a show of digging into his wallet for his wad of cash and putting a dollar down
franziska: custom tip, $0.50
godot: tips ≈20% and rounds up or down so the total is a perfectly even dollar amount
manfred: curls his lip at the screen and requests to speak to a manager about their servers begging for spare change like vagrants
klavier: tips 100% for a single slice of bread and then some if they are discreet enough to not alert the public that he's there
apollo: he usually tips 20%-50% because he never buys food over $10
trucy: when she doesn't have enough to tip 10%, she gives out free tickets to her shows
ema sky: 15% universally, including at the deli where she buys her snackoos
