Maybe a funny AU where after some time Byleth receives her Goddess powers, she unintentionally turns into a dragon. Seteth could feel a migraine coming, Rhea is saying something about this being another divine gift from the Goddess, and everyone else is either screaming or has fainted. You could add some Dimileth if you want.

This is funny because Byleth had the perfect set-up for gaining Dragon Transformation powers but we never got that. And, frankly, we were ROBBED. I mean, Byleth’s hair turned green, eyes turned green, might as well have gotten the pointy ears and Dragon-ness. Seteth outright said he used to be able to transform and just lost the ability over time because of lack of use (Flayn never tried but probably could), and Rhea actively uses it, so Byleth might as WELL have it. (But I do know why we didn’t have it in the game. One, Corrin in Fates (I didn’t like Fates) had it and we wanna be original. Two, this has a very serious story with very human focused conflict and the divine nature of things kinda takes a back seat to the human element. Sure, divinity is a core motivation for everyone, but ultimately it’s HUMANS who are the ones causing the conflicts in the game.) That all said, lets get on with Dragon Transformation AU!

So, Byleth is fully fused with Sothis now. Their hair is green, eyes are green, got the pointy ears. People are rightfully worried, but overall there doesn’t SEEM to be anything too worrisome after Byleth literally became divinity and ripped their way between worlds...health wise anyway.

Byleth is trying to get used to her new body/powers, as you would if you fused with a Goddess that was always, technically, you. The Sword of the Creator is stronger, and using Divine Pulses is easier, but there’s...more...Byleth can feel it...

Reaching for it while on the training grounds might have been a bad idea in hindsight. 

One moment Byleth is trying to figure out WHAT this new power is, the next thing she knows she’s destroyed the training hall and people are running around and screaming about a dragon.

Oops.

Luckily no one got hurt. Dimitri and Dedue, frequent guests of the training ground, got out with the other knights just fine. Though everyone is understandably upset and there are guards running around and everyone is screaming for Byleth and people miiiiiiight think she’s dead.

Byleth instinctively states that she’s not dead in her usual deadpan way...and it works because she’s apparently a TALKING dragon now. Everyone just kinda...stops...stack jawed, because wouldn’t YOU be if your teacher that’s apparently personally blessed by the goddess turned into a talking dragon and destroyed a building an accident? Everyone just kinda stares and drops their weapons because holy shit. 

Rhea is frantically making her way to the mess with a small army of guards. Beside her Seteth is pinching the bridge of his nose, looking very much put out and like he would like to die now please.

Rhea assures everyone that everything is fine, yes, really, this is CLEARLY another divine gift from the goddess that Byleth just discovered and they should take this as a blessing. She’s giving a mini sermon. When she’s done she asks them to move along please. No one moves along because the most popular teacher in the school just turned into a dragon and why the fuck would they move on. Hannamen is foaming at the mouth he’s so excited. Linhardt is actually awake he’s so interested. There’s a huge crowd of students and faculty wondering WHAT happened. Rhea just turns to Byleth and asks her to turn back into a human now.

...Byleth doesn’t know how...

The next day or two is just Rhea and Seteth trying to coach Byleth on how to turn back human without giving away that they can totally turn into a dragon too. They try to get the crowd to leave, but there’s always SOMEONE trying to get close (looking at you Hannamen, no you can’t have a blood sample). Not helping matters is Byleth’s dragon instincts making her want to collect whatever she considers “treasures” and sleeping with them in a little next. She gets testy if her treasures aren’t in eyesight.

Her treasures are all her students and friends. Gatekeeper keeps crying because he needs to guard the gate but Byleth won’t let him leave. Shamir wishes she’d never fucking come to Fodlan. Flayn thinks it’s great, though, she considers it valuable classmate bonding time. Claude sits back to relax while watching Rhea and Seteth because this is the easiest way he’s ever gotten information. Edelgard and Dimitri despair.

God that Dragon AU gave me life. I’m sure they manage to transform Byleth back and then the event falls out of everyone’s minds. But what if it happens again years later. And what if it happens to happen during the disaster wedding.

Okay, but, your teacher turning into a dragon and then hoarding you in a nest like treasure and refusing to let you leave while Flayn tries to make this into a big sleep over isn’t something you’re going to forget.

There’s a general rule that NO ONE is allowed to speak of the incident, but now whenever people look at Byleth they KNOW that they can turn into a big dragon and hoard them all. It’s the awkward elephant in the room, only a dragon this time. Flayn still thinks that it was a wonderful bonding experience for everyone.

But, after a while of absolutely refusing to speak of what happened (other than it sometimes coming up in arguments. Like, “I don’t want to hear that when you tried to fight the teach when she was a dragon BY YOURSELF FELIX.”) they eventually stop silently wondering if Byleth is going to turn into a dragon and hoard them all into another nest where they’ll be forced to nap and play bonding games with Flyan again. Byleth seems to have gained control over their abilities, after all.

And then it happens.

The Disaster Wedding.

I’m talking the Dedue being the world’s most serious wedding planner, I’m talking Claude spiking the drinks, I’m talking bonfires in the streets, I’m talking Gatekeep being a one man anti-assassin machine, I’m talking Leonie stealing the mic, I’m talking Alois being the loudest crier there, I’m talking Lorenz having the most posh wedding present, I’m talking Hilda tearing up the dance floor, I’m talking Felix ripping into Dimitri during his speech and then giving them a wyvern head as a wedding gift, I’m talking Ingrid desperately trying to be the best Best Man ever, I’m talking Ghost Jeralt and Rodrigue watching this event with wide eyed fascination.

It’s probably because Claude spiked the drinks that this all happened.

In his defense, he didn’t think Teach was going to get drunk and turn into a dragon on their wedding day. Now, instead of the Bridal Carry, all the wedding guest are forced to sit in a giant nest that a drunk dragon made for them, with Dimitri in particular receiving drunken dragon cuddles.

Dimitri hasn’t stopped glaring at Claude since his now wife turned into a dragon.

“Well…” Claude nervously chuckles, rubbing the back of his head, “THIS is the strangest bedding ceremony I’ve ever been a part of.”

Dimitri’s glare intensifies at that.

“Claude, you’re going to die if you don’t shut up, and it’s totally going to be your own fault.” Hild huffs. Flayn once again thinks that this is a perfect opportunity to catch up and bond, and that they can all finish the ceremony tomorrow. “And I can’t even blame Dimitri if he kills you, look at what you’ve done. At his wedding too.”

“There’s a literal festival in the street, half the city is on fire. Fodlan basically turned today into a national holiday and I was supposed to NOT spike the drinks?” Claude shake his head, “Blasphemy.” 

“At least it’s a memorable wedding.” Ashe tries, “I don’t think they’ll ever have one quite like this again.”

“Not every day that a wedding ends with the bride turning into a dragon.” Raphael backs him up, “Maybe Dimitri won’t be too harsh.”

“He was supposed to get laid tonight and instead he’s forced to cuddle a dragon while all his friends are sleeping in a big cuddle pile. If it were me, I’d skin you.” Sylvain swears with passion towards Claude. Ingrid and Felix both punch him in the shoulder for his crassness.

“We might as well make the best of it.” Ignatz give a small smile, “Flayn has the right idea, we could all catch up. Maybe play some word games.”

“I WAS having fun dancing. But now someone’s foot is digging in my back.” Hilda complains.

“Sorry.” Annette tries to move her foot, only to accidentally kick Seteth. Seteth sighs mournfully, wondering how his life got so out of hand in the first place. Alois armor is digging into him. Damn it, Alois, you were supposed to wear formal clothing.

“There’s plenty of room by Dedue, just move.” Felix complains as he shoves several people away from him.

“I would like to play Twenty Quesions.” Lysithea suggests from her spot, “First question, Claude, how would you prefer Dimitri kills you tomorrow?”

“I’m not going to die.” Claude insists, “It would ruin the rest of the wedding.”

“It’s not a REAL Faerghus wedding without at least three deaths.” Sylvain grins, “I’m sure Claude doesn’t mind being the first sacrifice.” 

“…who are the other two sacrifices in this scenario?” 

“Depends on who Felix gets to first when his patience snaps.”

How do you think Byleth would cope with that fact that Jeralt isn't there to walk her down the aisle on the day she and Dimitri get married? How many people fight over that opportunity? How does Dimitri try and get her to smile again despite her being a little sad her dad can't be there with her?

Weddings are supposed to be happy, but Byelth would definitely have a moment where she thinks about her father.

I imagine it would be right after she and Dimitri shared the happy news, announcing their engagement over a celebratory meal. there’s been a lot of celebratory meals since they’ve beaten Edelgard and united Fodlan, but this one is the one they’re going to announce their engagement. It’s a breakfast meal, a day after the proposal because they needed time to plan this out. They’ve asked all their friends and close allies to be there.

Once everyone is there, they wait for them to all be seated and grab their breakfast before standing and announcing they have news. Everyone stops, eager to hear the news, and only a little afraid it might be something bad. But if it was bad it probably wouldn’t be at breakfast so...

They announce their engagement to all their friends and family.

There’s a small, stunned, silence. But then the chaos breaks out. Alois is the first by shooting up and crying out his congratulations through teary eyes. Everyone else immediately follows, with Annette excitedly squealing about a wedding, and how happy she is, and gosh, they’re going to be so happy. Mercedes is standing and offering to make the cake. Dedue announces his congratulations and swears that he will let nothing go wrong with the wedding. Gustav is seen with a wobbling lip for a brief second, before breathing a long, long, sigh of relief because, oh god, Dimitri is getting married he’s come so far. (Sylvain is seen collecting money from some guards, no one questions the fact he put money on their engagement).

Alois shouts over the noise that he will, of course, be more than happy to give Byleth away at the wedding in place of Captain Jeralt.

Bleth’s smile falls a bit, because yeah, her father isn’t going to be there. It’s melancholy, bittersweet, because he gave her the ring she gifted Dimitri with. He wanted her to marry someday, find this happiness, and now he’ll never get to see it. Dimitri notices and squeezes her hand under the table, and that makes her smile a bit more, but still, she wishes her father was here.

That said, it’s hard for her to focus on the melancholy TOO much when Alois is cut off by Seteth’s, “Nonsense, I am of distant blood relation. If anything it should fall to me to escort her to the alter.”

Alois loses his SHIT! He is this woman’s BIG BROTHER thank you very much. And how does Seteth know they’re distantly related anyway? He looks nothing like Jeralt! A comment to which has Flayn tugging at a tuff of bright green hair and Seteth calmly pointing out that Byleth has a MOTHER as well, Alois. Alois says that brother takes priority over a “distant relation”. Things are starting to get pretty heated over there, with Alois flailing his arms and Seteth fiercely debating why he should be the one to give Byleth away.

You think it would be an argument between just the two of them.

You’d be wrong.

Some of Jeralt’s old mercenaries step up to the plate. Most of them announce that THEY should do it because they watched that kid grow up. Then Leonie steps up and announces that she should do it! Seteth, a sane man arguing with a bunch of idiots, rubs his temples and tries to explain why it would be a good idea for him, a blood relation and close friend and ASSISTANT TO THE ARCHBISHOP should give away a divine person, but no one is listening. A brawl has already started between Alois, Leonie, and the mercenaries over the issue. (Seteth might just win this and walk Byleth down the aisle because he’s the only one that didn’t get into a fist-fight over it. That said, this brawl lasts the whole day, and he takes verbal shots at his opponents. The courtyard is ruined.

Byleth sometimes thinks about her father while the wedding is being planted, but it’s never as strong as when she’s being walked on the wedding day.

Still, seeing Dimitri all dressed up and beaming at her while the people of Faerghus celebrate festival style around her as she makes her way to him makes her feel a lot better. It’s still bittersweet, but she thinks that her father would be happy with her choice. 

(Especially since booze has been broken out a long time ago and Faerghus is on fire. The whole country is throwing a few big festivals today, and the pure chaos of it would’ve put a smile on his face even IF he hadn’t liked Dimitri.)

I need more of this D&D au. What do you think of the reveals about Rhea and the implied identities of Seteth and Flayn? Imagine the salad squad just like internally panicking

Byleth must be some kind of physic, because they hit the nail on the head as far as their identities are concerned.

Seteth is convinced that Byelth knows, and he’s sweating bullets about it. He’s screeching in his head. Everything is a disaster. They know, and they’re letting him know they know, and he doesn’t know what they want. His teacup is shaking in his hand, no sugar or creamer, he’s just nervously taking sips with his shaky hand. Then he realizes the reveals about Rhea and stars side eyeing her, because is that all true, or just something they made up to cover the truth of his own identity.

Flayn is red flushed and panicking about her own idenitiy. Assuring everyone that none of this is true at all, and doing a very poor job at it. She’s stuttering over herself, and trying to think of what she could have said to the professor that revealed her identity. This girl is 100% panicked and going to die from all the stuttering.

Rhea has a serene smile on her face, but on the inside she’s a hot mess. Is Byleth remembering being her mother? Are those memories unlocked? Or was this instinctual knowledge that they truly believe is fiction? Does that mean her experiments worked? Should she risk asking in more detail later? Is she her mother trying to let her know they remember? She needs more answers!

Byleth totally thought they were making all this up by the way. So, yes, it is just instinctual knowledge that they thought was fiction.
