God I just love it when a character suppresses their romantic feelings for another. Maybe they want to protect the other character, maybe they're afraid they'll be judged for their feelings, maybe they feel personally ashamed for having those feelings – there's actually a ton of reasons why a character would swallow down and ignore their feelings. It's even better when something happens that encourages them to just... let themselves go, let the feelings happen.
