the funniest part about robb and edmure’s relationship is that no matter how many times robb commands his uncle to address him as “your grace” he just…doesn’t. not even on purpose. not to be disrespectful. not to make a point. it’s just like an instinct for edmure to greet him with a “yo robb what’s up” 🙂‍↔️ whereas the blackfish refers to robb as “your grace” even when he’s just casually talking to catelyn one on one. because to be fair edmure was literally there the day that robb was born. he’s only ever known his nephew as an infant and then one day this teenage boy just shows up out of nowhere and suddenly he’s a king except he’s still growing out his first beard and he’s super attached to his pet dog and he’s constantly reminding his mom that he’s a GROWN UP now and he doesn’t need her approval (but also he really really really wants it). also when you’ve seen your sister’s kid in diapers it’s probably a little hard to take his authority seriously.

This fandom is so silly because: what does it mean that we have a noble house capable of dominating a land constantly involved in every war and tormented by every turmoil that afflicts the continent and with atavistic internal struggles so ancient that we cannot establish its origin, which can boast men like Black Fish so famous for military skills to have Jaime fucking Lannister, the youngest and most promising of the royal guards, in adoration and a temperament so proud and determined that Ned Stark was careful not to challenge one of them (yes, he was joking but there was a grain of truth) and the fandom sees it as a weak and uninteresting house because..their symbol is a fish?

Could GRRM strive to find a better animal? Maybe.

At the same time, is it worth it if I say that it is not just any fish but a TROUT, a fish famous for its ability to completely change its shape to adapt and thrive to all kinds of water, salty or not, and that it swims stubbornly against the terrible currents to achieve its goal? like...its cool but you guys would like it only if it was a shark or an orca.

the siege of riverrun is so crazy bc jaime’s like “wow it’s so unfair that the blackfish won’t negotiate with me bc im a king slayer and a lannister no one understands me im just a little guy” and then he goes into edmures bath and is like by the way your fucking baby is going to burn in hell. and then he plays a compilation album of his family’s greatest war crimes

a thought: your husband sending you letters while away at war, letters you always have to burn in case of spies and thieves...but not his name.

Never his name, simply initials scrawled at the end of the parchment in black ink.

You always rip that little piece away and save it, keeping the scraps in a wooden keepsake box with a few other tokens. Dried flowers, little trinkets, love notes you had gotten to keep...and scraps of parchment, some stained with your lipstick, his name over and over and over again.

hi, ig my asoiaf idea wld be edmure meeting/holding baby robb at riverrun (w or w/o catelyn in frame). i hc he'd be only abt 12 at most when he first became an uncle.

I love your idea and felt very inspired so I made something more serious and something silly :)
