Setting: Rinoka
Rinoka... the thing I'm currently working on. It's intended to be a fictional setting I'll write stories in, or maybe even others could write stories in. Or role play even. Maybe even a gaaaame someday. Who knows? I don't. Do you? If you do know, tell me what you know so I can prepare.
So onto the gravy.
Rinoka is a world that's a mix of science fiction, high fantasy and mundane modernity. It's a planet of fantastic races, weird places, and weirder goings-ons.
I'll describe the races that live within it soon, and follow up with full (work in progress) descriptions of them later on.
The setting is semi-futuristic, but completely terrestrial (no space shenanigans here, friend). Most races are totally grounded, but there's plenty of opportunity for lateral expansion of... stuff!
The planet itself is pretty screwed up. Three hundred years in the past, stuff was introduced which gave it a kick start on industry, technology and science, leading to a chaotic arms race of innovation and advancement which left a lot of places on it in a very sorry state.
To this end, the setting exists in two time periods:
Old Times: The simpler, more fantastical times. The world is a gorgeous place of magic and swords. Modern Times: The darker, crazier times. The world has become industrialized and the results are everywhere (pollution, ruins, toxic waste, magical anomalies, mutated fauna).
I think sometimes people call this a "time skip"... but that's too common. We'll refer to the change in time as the... TIME LEAP! Because a skip is just too short, y'know?
