haena tapped her foot impatiently against the floor. she wasn’t sure how long the lecture was going to last and she had wanted it to finish the moment it started. the weather was constantly changing as of late and her mind was drifting off someplace else. as the professor talked about historical periods and the evolution of music, she thought of how an innocent pair of kittens were out in the rain.
it was purely accidental when she stumbled upon them. the place in which the original “owner” had placed them was just below an ancient and large cherry blossom tree. it was far from the school grounds and didn’t look as if it will be noticed by others. she or he who made the shelter for the kittens had very little resournces, haena thought, as their home was made out of carton. haena had tied a makeshift roof in the form of an umbrella in case it rained and even bought small cat feeder bowls. every lunch time she would walk to the tree and pour them some food and milk. if only she could take them to her own dorm but pets weren’t allowed in the freshman dorms and she couldn’t find anyone who would take care of them.
a sigh slipped past the nineteen-year-old’s lips as she shook her head and tried to focus on her lesson. she took notes and participated in the debate and before she knew it, the bell rang. lunch time. she packed her things hastily and ran out of the classroom before anyone else. although it was raining still it definitely wasn’t as strong as earlier. which was a good sign.
