Has a Creative Assistant ever failed to talk someone out of creating a joke character? (maxing out sliders so they look ridiculous and stuff) And how would that sort of thing be treated within Riariti

Creative Assistants have Veto powers! If something would break the immersion of the game too much, they can absolutely refuse to let you do it. So no, no one’s ever managed it. Considering it’s a body a person would actually be living in and experiencing first hand, the assistant’s take this job VERY. SERIOUSLY. One’s body is not a joke.

What sort of personality is needed for a Vaesin? And how different are their racial abilities from a 'normal' Aethen

Lord almighty always asking the really hard questions.

Vaesin are Aethen variants, so their personalities are like Aethen but... Aethen tend to be fairly close-minded, set in their ways. They enjoy being helpful and consider generosity a virtue. They’re raised to be a certain way, and they don’t question it because their elders know what’s best for them. Aethen are friendly, Aethen are helpful, Aethen are kind, Aethen are generous, and that keeps Aethen protected and safe. They follow the rules, they follow the laws, they follow their elders, and it keeps them happy and prosperous.

Vaesin tend to... Not be so mindlessly accepting. They question authority. They don’t defy authority for the sake of anarchy, so much as wanting to make sure what they’re doing is really what they want to be doing. They tend to be more open-minded, but most of them have deeply ingrained prejudices handed down from ages of negative treatment at the hands of Aethen who convinced them they’re unwanted monsters just because they don’t automatically and happily conform to their community’s laws. It takes work for them to overcome these prejudices, but most are self-directed; Vaesin, unfortunately, tend to hate themselves and place absolutely no value on their own existence. However, they do genuinely enjoy helping other people. Vaesin would break a law if it meant being able to help someone in need, not for the sake of breaking the law, but for the sake of helping the person who needed it. They tend to go to extremes in order to help people, often putting their own lives or well-being in danger.

Aethen are Lawful Good, while Vaesin are Chaotic Good.

Their racial abilities are, actually, the same. Because Vaesin are still Aethen, regardless of what both sides may believe.

Aethen fulfil an angelic aesthetic, but are there any races that are demonic, sorta like d&d's tieflings?

Actually, certain types of Aethen! Certain subspecies of Aethen are more of a demonic/fallen angel appearance, horns and all. 

Normal Aethen consider them ‘variants’, and don’t actually like to think of them as proper Aethen - the variants are hedonistic embarrassments to Normal Aethen. 

These ‘variants’ form their own communities away from normal Aethen ones, and tend to view the Normal Aethen as stuck-up, condescending, judgemental control freaks. They also avoid other people since their experience with Aethen leads them to think the whole world will treat them the same way.

Wizard Eyes and other such spells or tools will reveal the variants to be Aethen, but they prefer to call themselves Vaesin. (They think it’s funny, since the Aethen named themselves after the Aether element and all, why not name themselves after Vaesir, its complimentary opposite).
