Once upon a time last month, when i came across that video of the New Zealand All Blacks and their new jerseys with the hidden rainbow in the fabric, I was talking with @thegreatsnapescape how that could be a thing, since the tag was full of LGBTQ Snape at the time and one post had him hide that the inside of his cloak was literally rainbow coloured…

I just never got around to drawing it. Now I was at my mom’s and had time and now my pc is probably fucked up and “attempting repairs”… so I had some time to continue… Also hear me out… ACE Snape.

But what about Lily you say… Performative heterosexual behaviour. A deep sense of understanding and emotional bond, mistaken for love and sexual attraction. Are we really assuming a straight man who never actually got the woman he was after would have stuck to adoring the memory of her and never gotten into a new relationship, or even gotten over her? Look, how was he supposed to know the difference between love and friendship, when all he probably knew about it was from his parents (great frigging example…) and media (books, radio, tv - can’t tell me Tobias didn’t want to have that muggle stuff) So many people are ace without knowing it. Because society tells them that if they like someone of the opposite gender, clearly it is love and if you are a teenager, then clearly it’s those pesky hormones. Am I right, dur hur? *nudge wink* Lily was probably the only person who established a bond of trust with him at that very difficult age. James and the marauders probably gave him shit for “having a crush on Lily” and James clearly saw him as a rival in a heterosexual way. You can become obsessed with a person, even without wanting to fuck them. I’m not saying it could be canon I’m jut saying teen Severus had a single friend, who tried to see the good in him, who gave his life meaning, who supported him and whom he trusted and felt comfortable around. A friend that was probably the anchor for his sanity in an abused and bullied childhood in a pre-war time. Someone so important to him that his life seemed like shit if they weren’t there. Of course he’d think he’d love her if his heteronormative environment as much has subtly suggested he did. Did he want to have sex with her? (insert AVPM motorboating gif here) Counterquestion: Did he even ask himself that? This awkward, shy, withdrawn boy? Probably thought it’s inappropriate to even think about that, so thank Merlin he was not hit by puberty as bad as some others, right? … might even have considered himself superior for being able to keep his dick in check, unlike some others. Anyway… Snape could have been ace and mistaking his obsessive-friendship with a girl as romantic/sexual attraction because he didn’t know better and society taught him so. Just the two cents of mine I thought about in pride month…
