There are information about the village of Karacakılavuz since the second half of the 18th century. It was mentioned as Karacakuloğuz (Dark servant Oğuz), one of the villages of Hayrabolu. It even has Ottoman-era cemeteries. However, a large part of the population is from Selvi (Bulgarian: Sevlievo), a city located in northern Bulgaria. The Turks left Selvi and settled in this small village in 1884-85 when the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia were united. The village is particularly famous for its needlework, which has visible Balkan elements. In contrast to the Anatolian ones, where floral motifs predominate, the Balkan motifs are dominated by geometric ones. Thus, the name of this small village is relatively well known.
