The person that ordered the butcher table made from a bowling alley lane also commissioned a few other pieces using more of the same lane. This is the one Ty finished today. The base is an antique cast iron Singer treadle sewing machine stand that we refinished. The top is a section of the maple bowling lane, and the trim was reconstructed from an antique oak table that the customer provided. I finished up one night stand this week and still have another to go. #i shortened up the sides 2” on each end and rounded all the edges. I stained it a mix of a gold sparkle and solid teal. Been working on this custom sewing machine table the last few weeks. A few hours a day as I’ve been busy with other things. 8’ butcher block counter top cut so I can fit 3 machines and a dremel tool station in the space that 2 machines used to take up. I’ve got a few machines that needed tables, and this seemed like a good space conservative way to do it. I had to cut the pedal plates and back struts so all the legs and pedals would fit. Also painted the legs black for a more uniformed look. Butcher block was sanded and coated in Danish oil and finally a layer of bees wax. A few missteps as I’ve never cut sewing machine holes before. But all in all, I like how it came out.
