Creation is my passion. It’s what drives me - always has been. As a toddler, i loathed colouring books and refused to stay inside the lines, always preferring to draw my own pictures. Creating is never a struggle. Inspiration comes easily. But carving out the time to share my work consistently, to put those creations out into the world, is harder. It’s not that I worry about rejection or scrutiny. Far from it. It’s that I create mostly for myself, so much so that I often forget that part of the intent behind it is to share it. I wind up backlogged, feeling like I’ve let myself down, like I can’t catch up to meet deadlines I’ve set for myself. Sound familiar…? It’s easy to fault yourself for not being able to do it all, for not being as good at everything as you are at some things but - as much as consistency is important, it takes so many different forms, and if you can’t be consistent in everything, that’s okay. Just show up. When you can, where you can, whenever you can find the time. If you set a goal but fail to meet it, that doesn’t mean you quit - just reset and try again. So this is me, following my advice because it’s mostly for me, and showing up. Later than planned, disorganized and without a plan, but here.
