Berwick Alley @ Harrison St in San Francisco, Ca

Spencer Keeton Cunningham recently returned to San Francisco and painted murals in two locations referencing the tech gentrification and displacement of artists and families in SF. Yesterday we published one mural. Today is his mural on Berwick Alley at Harrison in San Francisco.

This mural has the same context as the one in the Tenderloin. I"m creating a mixture of autobiographical work within the context of San Francisco and the idea of displacement. Indigenous communities have always been displaced. I want to in a sense deconstruct the modern day Columbus mentality that exists within the tech community.

I painted a house on fire inside of a laptop to discuss the idea of tech gentrification. Ironically I painted this mural on Heron Arts right across the street from a huge construction site that will be more condos. I think its time for people to talk about this issue. Theres too many artists in SF making context-less art with no meaning. Wall paper in a sense. When there are some real issues going on. I think as artists its our job to bring up these issues. You cant hide behind your curtain of tech money. Im putting it out there

In 2014 Nychos painted this mural on Lower Haight by Fillmore. A few years later the building was painted a completely different color.

Nychos just finished a mural in San Jose for the San Jose Sharks. He will be live painting at Outside Lands.

111 Minna St @ Mission in San Francisco, Ca

Amanda Lynn just finished this mural outside 111 Minna Gallery to celebrate the opening of her collaborative art show with Lady Mags.The show is titled Lullaby. These ladies have been collaborating both on and off the streets for years. They have murals around town. The most notable is by Civic Center on the Holiday Inn.

One piece they did together. Mags watercolors makes this piece more Amada's lady feel more dreamlike.

The show just opened at @111minnagallery and will be open for a month. You can view their art online on 111 Minna Gallery website or go see in person. The gallery is open Monday to Friday 7-5pm serving coffee and a full bar and different evenings. Check the calendar.

Lauren YS burst onto the local art scene in 2014 upon graduation from college with several murals around the Bay Area and several still up.

She is participating in Wide Open Walls in Sacramento that officially kicked off today.

Lauren's work is influenced by dreams, mythology, death, comics, love, sex, psychedelia, animation and her Asian-American heritage.

Mitch hails from St. Louis. He painted a facial mural in 2015 while visiting and shortly after moved here.

From Interview with Hoodline:

"My background in art runs kind of deep," Bierer said. "As a kid I looked up to my grandfather, just like most kids do, and it just so happened that my grandpa was a muralist in his small town in Illinois. I remember how awe-inspiring it was to watch him command a brush at such large scales, and I think it just really stuck and grew into a passion of my own."
