NaNoWriMo 2017 (Day 5)

Day 5 Word Count: 1,675

Total Word Count: 9,210

Well, today we had a thunderstorm, tornado warning, and a power-outage. And somehow I still managed to get my Nano words in for the day. My friends and I had to drive 30 minutes to a Panera Bread for Wifi and electricity where we stayed for about 3 hours and just hung out and worked on school and writing. Somehow during that time I was able to pound out my 1,667 words. But I’m glad I made it work because I’m still on track! Now, I have to get through Monday.

Welp. This has been a productive month so far. I actually finished my outline for my 2nd novel, the one I will be writing for nano this year so thats super exciting. Plus, I edited some of the first novel.

Just had a SUPER prodcutive novel outlining session in preparation for NaNoWriMo this year. I hope I find the time to actually participate.

AHHHH im freaking out. The first person other than me just finished reading my book! Its so weird to have someone else know the full story too.

Novel update: so i let my novel sit for longer than i should have, but im back and ready to edit now! Im doing a group project for my pro writing class where we are taking my novel and figuring out how to put together a book proposal for publishers. Which means i have a number of people helping me with my novel and editing through at least the first 3 chapters which is super cool. And then I have 1 friend in the group who is fhe main editor and she gets to read the full novel, so shes been reading/editing/fangirling over my novel today and its super exciting! Its so weird having someone else finally read my novel but im excited. Still struggling with a few names and terms, mainly the name of the main character, but ill get there eventually. Im going to have some interesting times ahead of me, editing with the help of my friend, writing up character bios, and writing a rough draft of a press release for my book, but i can't wait! (Also, my friend reading the full thing through and helping me edit is @squidsteve. She's cool and you should go check her blog out)

Update on my novel: I just finished my first draft! My total word count is 129,130 words, which is just slightly shorter than the length of Return of the King from the Lord of the Rings series. It still needs a lot of work and a whole lot of editing, but I have the bare bones of it figured out. I kind of still can't believe I really finished the first draft, but I'm super excited to finally get around to editing it and making it pretty! This is the longest thing I’ve ever written. I’m so glad I finished it before the new year.

NaNoWriMo day 25:

So I didn’t update you yesterday because it was thanksgiving and I was tired, but I DID manage to make it to my word count. Yesterday I wrote 1,781 words.

But good news, I also finished my word count for today already because I know I’m going to be busy tonight.  Today I wrote 1,698. And guess what, I finished the turning point scene and it went really well. It was super fun to write and I’m already on to the next scene. It was great. I’ll try to continue to keep you all updated.

NaNoWriMo day 23: I wrote a total of 1,742 words today! And I wrote 1,707 yesterday, which I don't think I updated you on again. BUT I have a good excuse. I flew home for thanksgiving break last night! So I actually was working on and finished my nano words for the day yesterday in the airport and on the plane. I felt like a professional novelist writing in an airport. That was fun. So today was my first full day back, and I thought it might be hard to get my word count in, but it hasn't been too bad so far because I have gotten so much faster, and the scene I'm currently writing is like the turning point for the whole novel so its super fun. It's been so nice being back home and hanging with friends and family, I just hope I can get my word count tomorrow when I have a whole bunch of people here. . . We will see how it goes.
