He's got two fingers in Evan, and Evan is rolling his hips like he's not sure if he want to grind his dick against Tommy's thigh, or push back against Tommy's fingers inside him, and his breath is coming in hot pants against Tommy's neck, when the chime on his communicator goes off. He freezes, waits. And then the chime on Evan's communicator joins in the chorus. They both turn to stare at them.  "Motherfucker," Evan says. And yeah. That. He regretfully disentangles himself, and tries to ignore the noise Evan makes when his fingers slide free, and answers the call, trying to sound normal and not like this is a really really bad time for an interruption.  "Go for Kinnard." Hears Evan saying, "Ravi, Atlantis better be sinking."

For the first time, I understand why people would post an wip. I've always been like, I could never because I change too much (still true) and I want to be able to poke things until the very last second (also still true).

But y'all? I'm virtually bouncing in my seat, I'm having so much fun with this one.

@liminalmemories21 and I are, in fact, writing so fast that I keep fucking with her spot in the document and I can sense her frustration, with every prolonged blink of her cursor.

Wrong fandom for all of these tagged bys, but this is the fic that has eaten my life for the last two weeks.

From Part II of Pegasus Rising - getting posted later this week just as soon as @cecilyv and I finish that extra scene we decided we needed at like midnight last night.

“I can’t speak for the military,” Hen says carefully.  “But, I think I can speak for the civilians here.”  He looks at her warily.  “You make us feel safe.  Ah ah ah ah,” she actually wags a finger when he starts to protest.  “My turn to talk now.  You make us feel safe because we know that you’ll come after us.  Because we know that if something happens that you’ll do everything you can think of, and then you’ll do a little bit more.” “That’s my literal job,” he points out. She nods seriously, “And you do it very well, whatever you think.” “Anyone would do that.” She tilts her head.  “You really think that?”  He stares at her.  “Gerrard wouldn’t have,” she points out.  “God rest his soul, but if the roles were reversed he wouldn’t have gone after you or the Athosians in that Wraith base.  He’d have had a nice funeral service for you and moved on.  We trust you, because you did.  You showed up for a man you didn’t like and didn’t trust, and you’d do that for any of us every day of the week and twice on Sundays, and we know that.  So, you can think nobody trusts you, and that you’re not right for this job, and that someone else could do it better, maybe anyone else could do it better.  But, you’re wrong.” She takes a sip of her beer, stares out at the water. Adds pragmatically, “Also, if you think the city is going to light up for anyone else the way she does for you, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.  And, personally, I like it when the city is having a torrid love affair with her military commander.” He covers his face.  “Oh my god, Hen.  I am not having a torrid love affair with Atlantis.” She grins at him.  “Uh huh.  Tell that to the power fluctuations every time you walk past.”  She nudges him.  “I’m serious though, I don’t know what happened before Atlantis, or what problems you have with authority,” snorts at the look of exaggerated shock he gives her.  “But you’re here now, and we appreciate you, and we’re not really up for letting you go.”

Chapter 2 is now up!

You’ll notice the chapter count went from 3 to 5.  We didn’t actually add words, we just split the rest of it into more manageable chunks.  This is actually fully complete for anyone who is wary of a WIP (I get it); we’re just tweaking as we go.

Off world missions also give the Marines (and let’s be honest, the scientists) ample time to tease the newbie. Him. He’s the newbie.

The problem is there’s really genuinely no way to tell when they’re blowing smoke and when they’re being serious. He heard enough of the SG veterans talking in the mess hall to know that just because it sounds like a made-for-tv-movie doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

They’re on M3Q-769 with Chim as their scientist du jour, because they’re hoping for some fruit to bring back for dinner. They’ve come to a stop in front of a small clearing in the woods, with some pretty little white flowers blooming on a vine curling up the trunk. The Marines eye the flowers warily and Tommy finally breaks. “Gunny, would someone like to tell me what’s going on?”

Nobody says anything. Everyone looks somewhere other than at him.

He eyes them. “You know, I’m not much on protocol, but I really am going to have to insist on some kind of answer, just for my own sanity.”

“Err, um, sex pollen, sir,” Marks mumbles.
