Yay!! My medal from last week's Singapore 53rd National Day Virtual Run is here.. So nice with Singapore attractions like @singaporecablecar_ @marinabaysands, @singaporeflyer @esplanadesingapore as design details for the front. At the back is Vanda Miss Joaquim as the motif at back of medal. This time no name engraving coz I missed out on the dateline.. but it's okay. @TheRSAF When I first heard about RSAF's Gulfstream G550, my initial response was - What role does a luxury jet (think rich oil tycoons) have in our Air Force? Apparently these G550s were fitted with AEW (Airborne Early Warning) systems to replace the then E2C Hawkeyes as they could fly faster, higher and further with a long flight time of 9 hours. Accompanied by two F16D+ (the double seater version), is the KC135 Stratotanker (the airplane fuel kiosk), usually a low profile aircraft but vital to fighters whose flight time can vary from 10 minutes to 5 hours depending on the combat load. These will be slowly replaced by adapted A330 MRTTs by 2030... @TheRSAF At first glance, the last 3 helis look the same, except for the colour. Actually they're not - 2 are Super Pumas (which are in the process of being replaced), with the last being the grey Sikorsky Seahawk. What's unique about the Seahawk is that it's manned by both RSAF (2 pilots) and RSN (1 TACCO for radar and 1 SENSO for sonar) personnel. The latest and final batch was just delivered in January 2018 before the February 2018 Airshow...
