This is Shu An. She is a star. In the very best sense of the word. I had the pleasure of being her co-host for SGIFF’s Silver Screen Awards last night. On the job, she’s always thinking about how to do better. Under pressure, she speaks calmly, and offers solutions. And people listen, because she knows her stuff. She’s a generous performer, has a kind word for everyone, and leads through collaboration, support, and an infectious sense of humour. Before we took these shots, she’d just spent the day in rehearsal + hair and makeup, then photos for her sponsors. She could have just sat down and had a 10-minute break after her own shots were done. Instead, she came into the dressing room and said “Brendon, do you want some photos too?” and gave up her time and talent to do an extra, impromptu shoot with me. Thank you, Shu! For any young performers out there, learning how to navigate the scene, how to play the fame game, how to conduct yourself, how to be professional, learning what to do or not do, looking for a role model: look no further. Shu An is it. 🌟 #SGIFF2018 #LetTheMagicIn (📸: @sherylszx) (at Capitol Theatre) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrKS4zTBxwj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1hklwgy1u55d2
