"If We Want to Address the Crisis of Veteran Suicide, We Must Acknowledge Its History," (Simon Harold Walker, Time.com, September 6, 2019) Speaking as a former nurse that spent countless hours on the phone with the VA to try to get care for the veterans I was taking care of... Speaking as a mom of a young vet, injured, home for almost a year still waiting on the VA... It was not surprising but even more upsetting to read the number of #veteransuicides that take place on a VA campus in our country each year. Not ignoring the fact that about 22 veterans a day. A DAY. Take their own life. It all hits home because it is something our family deals with every day. It is something that everyone needs to realize that no matter how close we are to that soldier, we will never and can never know the battle that continues to wage inside of them after they come home. We can only guess and what they went through while serving our country. It is far easier to heal a physical wound then it is a mental and emotional wound. The physical wound takes a few specialists and trained professionals... The mental and emotional healing, will take us all. #mission22 is an organization that is dedicated to bring the veteran suicide number of 22 a day down to 0. #warriorsheart specializes in substance abuse treatment and co-occurring psychological disorders, with special attention to post-traumatic stress (#ptsd), unresolved grief/loss, and moral injury. @maxmartini a rather incredible human using his talent and gifts to raise awareness and funds to support our veterans. #sgtwillgardner is more than a movie, it gives an intimate insight of battle that our soldiers come home and continue to fight every day. #you yes you reading this, someone that wants to make a difference but doesn't know how. Gary Sinise, a multi-awarded actor who has been in the industry since the year 1982, is back on the big screen in a movie about war veterans once again. This time he is not a veteran from the Vietnam war like Lieutenant Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump but will play the role of Larry in the movie entitled  Sgt. Will Gardner.
