Day Three (October 30th) - Hero (Unplugged) (Starstruck) - JJ Imagine
Word Count : 1499 Words
Sorry I thought I had this queued to post and apparently I did not.
Even though JJ and you didn’t always get along, you knew that he was the only one you could talk to. The other Pogues always had amazing home lives and you didn’t want them to look at you any differently. Deep down, you knew that they wouldn’t, but you always worried anyways. JJ was the one exception. He was tortured at home and he was loyal to a tee. He would never tell anyone your secret.
The day that you finally told him what was going on was intense. You had gone through the ringer at home and hid at the beach to calm down. The sand burned against your skin, but you had to come up with a plan to explain to your friends how you got these bruises. Usually you only had to lie about one or two, but today your skin was painted in this ugly shade black and blue. Tears were slipping rapidly down your face as you hugged your knees to your chest. How would you explain this to your friends?
When JJ got to the beach he was already in a bad mood. He thought taking the day off from his friends would help clear his head, but then he saw you out of the corner of his eyes. He scoffed at first, knowing that the happy-go-lucky girl would run up to him as soon as you noticed he was there. He had two options, say hi before you had the chance to annoy him or ignore you completely. He sighed, knowing the right thing to do. Even though you could annoy him, he still had a soft spot for you.
As he walked up, he heard your sniffling. It shocked him to see you like this because the only version he had ever seen of you was bubbly and filled with bliss. He never thought you could be like this. Then the bruises caught his eye. His breath hitched as he put two and two together. The way you fidgeted when John B asked how you got the bruises. The dismissiveness and resent in your voice when they would ask if you were okay. It all made sense now. He was angry at himself for not noticing sooner.
“Y/n?” he asked softly. Your heart stopped as he said your name. You had been caught red handed. You turned your head slowly to look at him. Tears cascaded down your face as he saw the real you for the first time. He didn’t know whether to reach forward and hug you or to call Kiara. She was always better with the emotional stuff than him. He sensed that you needed him right now though. He took a seat next to you and said nothing.
“I’m fine JJ,” you muttered softly. You didn’t look at him when you said that. You couldn’t bring yourself too. The embarrassment was too intense to look him in the eyes.
“You don’t look fine…” he awkwardly said back. You bursted out into tears as he said that. He cursed under his breath, wishing that he knew how to handle the situation. He remembered what Kie always did when he was distressed and pulled you into a hug. It was awkward at first. JJ and you had never hugged before in your two years of friendship, but as soon as your arms slipped around him and your face burrowed into his shoulder, all the awkwardness dispersed. His hands found the way to your back and held you tightly. With you in his arms, it was like he could read your mind all of the sudden. He could tell you anything that you wanted or needed to hear. “You’re okay now. I won’t let anyone else hurt you.”
After you settled down a little bit, he released you from his hold. He let you explain what it was like at home. He listened as you told him your fears about the others knowing. Every word you said, made sense to him. He went through the exact same thing, only he was more cynical than you could ever be.
“I had no idea. You always seemed so cheerful,” he muttered. It made you happy that he thought you were cheerful.
“Whenever I’m sad, I always promise to myself that I’ll be happier and work harder,” you explained. You never wanted anyone to know that your life was hard. You didn’t want the people you cared about most to worry about you when they all had so much on their plates already. “Don’t tell the others, okay?”
You watched him nod sadly. He knew that there was no point of trying to convince you. He had been there before and even though the Pogues wouldn’t treat you any differently, it didn’t erase the fear and guilt. Plus he kind of liked the idea of a secret that only he knew about.
That night when you guys went back to the Chateau, you had forgotten to make up a story to tell you friends. Kiara ran up to you immediately and asked if you were okay. JJ shoved her back a little bit, not allowing her to get a closer look.
“I was teaching her how to surf and she took a huge fall,” he muttered. “She’s still shaken up so give her some space.”
You stared at him as he lied for you. The both of you knew that if she looked closer the story wouldn’t add up quite as well. You smiled at him as he tossed you one of his hoodies to hide some of the marks. You slipped it on and grinned at the soft smell of him that lingered on the fabric. The more he did for you, the closer you two got. You could feel yourself falling for him. It was as unstoppable as gravity.
A few weeks passed and JJ spent more and more time with you. Usually he would get annoyed with you after a while, but now he made it his own mission to make sure you didn’t get hurt. Every time you would cry, he would tell you about how the two of you could get out of the OBX. He would fill your head with ideas of Mexico, but realistically, he would take you anywhere you wanted to go as soon as he had the money to do so. He wanted to be your hero.
One night, he was caught up at work. The chateau was a little too crowded and you were feeling a little overwhelmed. Over your better judgement, you went back home for the night. The place was a mess and your dad sat on the couch with a beer in hand. You looked at your feet as you explained where you had been. He told you that he didn’t care and told you to get him another beer. Your voice was shaky, but something about JJ made you realize that you didn’t have to stand for this. Even though the two of you were ordinary people with just a heart and soul, you could stop this. You told him no for the first time in your life.
The rest of it happened so quickly. His fist hitting your cheek. His hand wrapping around your throat. Your gasps for air as he threw you to the ground. You listened to him yell at you to get out. He didn’t have to tell you twice. You ran quickly out the door, but right into JJ’s body. He had heard from J.B. that you went home and had come to check on you. Your arms slipped around him and you sobbed into his chest, still trying to catch your breath. His heart stopped as you clung to him. If only he left work on time, maybe you wouldn’t have gone home. He placed a kiss on your forehead and muttered apologies over and over, even though none of this was his fault.
He snuck you back into his house. It was similar to yours, messy and unkempt. You didn’t mind though. He shut the bedroom door behind him and turned on the light, seeing the bruising for the first time. Your neck was purple where your dad had grabbed you. The more he looked at it, the angrier he got. He was angry at you for going home. He was angry at your dad for doing this to you. However, he was the angriest at himself for not being there. He wiped away your tears carefully and stared at your broken face.
“I’m sorry,” you said softly. It broke his heart that you were in so much pain and you still felt like you had to apologize to him. He leaned forward and pressed his lips to yours, telling you that you never had to be sorry when it came to him. He would always be there for you, no matter what. He would be everything you ever needed.
“I have no one to go apple picking with...” with Rafe
Ooo okay here you go baby :)
•••••••••••••••
“Sarah’s not here, by the way. She left with John B an hour ago,” Wheezie informed you once you walked into their home like it was your own as you’ve done for the past ten years.
“Really? We had plans. I’m getting kinda tired of her ditching me for him,” you huffed as you sat down on the couch next to Wheezie.
“What were y’all gonna do anyway?” The little brunette asked while scrolling through the channels on the television.
“We were gonna go pick some apples and try to make a pie with them later. Now, I have no one to go apple picking with...”
“I’ll go with you,” you heard the oldest of the Cameron crew speak behind you. Wheezie bust out into a fit of laughter before shaking her head and returning her attention back to whatever show she had chosen.
“Really?” you asked Rafe. He nodded his head in response. “Will you help me make an apple pie later because that’s what I’m most excited about?”
“I don’t know how much help I’ll be doing that but it sounds fun. I’ve never baked anything before.” You hopped up from the couch and headed for the door.
“Come on, Rafe. Let’s go pick some apples.” And that is what you guys did. Rafe helped you get the ones that were higher on the trees because they were too far out of your reach. You two went back to his house and began to make your pie.
“Shit,” you heard Sarah mumble when she walked into the house. “What are you guys doing?”
“Making an apple pie,” Rafe spoke for the two of you as he plopped the dough out onto the floured countertop.
“I thought we were gonna do that, y/n?”
“I thought we were going to go apple picking but you were with John B so I went with Rafe,” you answered and continued to slice the apples.
“You can still help us make the pie though,” you offered. There was a look between the Cameron siblings that you couldn’t see, one where Rafe was begging his sister to go so he could be alone with you. Sarah rolled her eyes before saying she was going to go take a shower and might come back down to help. You put the apples to the side to help Rafe with the pie crust dough because he was struggling.
“Here, like this,” you said as you grabbed his hands with your own and pressed down to knead the dough. He stood behind you as your body was pressed against the island that sat in the center of the kitchen, his arms around yours and your hands together with the dough. You felt his breath on your neck and his hands move to be on top of yours. Lips pressed to your neck which you tilted your head for him to have more access and his hands traveled up your arms before falling to your waist.
“Rafe,” you whispered as your eyes fluttered closed and your head fell back against his shoulder when he began to suck on the skin of your neck in that sweet spot right below your ear. The beep of the oven preheating startled the two of you, causing y’all to break apart.
“Let’s get this pie in the oven first and then we’ll go upstairs to your room, okay?” you suggested but Rafe had other plans.
“I was thinking we could have fun right in here.” Your eyes went wide.
“Wheezie is in the other room and Sarah could come down any minute. Ward or Rose could come in here too,” you told him.
“All the more fun.” And who knew making a pie could end up like this?
you got it! gonna try and repair the hearts i broke with the last one oop. i didn’t proofread this sry in advance

It had been a long week. Turns out juggling a part time job with full time undergraduate studies is not easy, especially during finals. Having written your intermediate stats final at 9 am, followed by a long shift at the local diner across from campus where you had worked short staffed because someone had flaked on her shift again, you wanted nothing more than to crawl into bed and sleep for fifteen hours.
Unluckily for you, your roommate Topper had different plans. The second you had entered the apartment, you had been assaulted by the bright light of the hallway and the sight of Topper cheerfully greeting you, grabbing you by the hand to lead you into the living room where Rapunzel was queued up on the large tv, and two cartons of ben and jerry’s sat on the coffee table. Your frown lessened when you realized one was your favourite flavour. You looked up at him questioningly, exhaustion and surprise causing your left eye to water a little.
“What’s all this?” you asked softly.
“I noticed you usually put on a disney movie when you’re stressed, and I picked up ben and jerry’s from the store earlier,” he told you, “I figured you would need it after today.”
“No one has ever paid that much attention to me,” you admit quietly. It’s true, you’ve never really had a strong friend group. You had friends, sure, but you were never the centre of a friend group. You existed on the fringes of most friendship circles, never truly finding yourself belonging to any. Even the people you had grown up with hadn’t really considered you ‘one of them’. That was how you had ended up befriending Topper in the first place and then moving in together when you both got accepted to Duke.
You had been at a boneyard party, offhandedly invited by Kiara who you would consider a friend, but you weren’t really close. It was like that with all the pogues, y’all were friendly but it’s not like you were crashing on John B’s couch or anything.
Topper had seen you looking melancholy, sitting at the edge of the party, red solo cup in hand and decided to talk to you. At first, you had been wary. Despite not being one of the group, you were still a pogue and keenly aware of the disdain most kooks had for your kind. He had quickly proved you wrong, kind and caring and always striking up a conversation when you were left alone at parties. The casual conversations at parties turned into hanging out beyond the boneyard and a real friendship flourished.
When you and Topper had both gotten into Duke, it was a quick and easy decision to move into the apartment his parents were paying for. They liked you well enough, for a pogue, and only charged you half of what market rent would be.
“Are you still deep in your head, or can we watch the movie?” Topper teased you, sitting on the loveseat and motioning for you to join him. You rolled your eyes and sat beside him, leaning on his body heat slightly and let the exhaustion take over as you slouched your shoulders. You reached for your ice cream and mumbled a thanks, causing Topper to grin.
Tangled was one of your favourites, low key you thought Flynn Ryder was cute and the lanterns always made your heart happy. You played with the ends of your hair as you happily watched and sang along quietly when you felt eyes on you. Turning to Topper, he was staring at you, his intense gaze causing your heart to stutter in your chest.
“What?” You asked self-consciously, pulling your legs up to wrap your arms around them. He didn’t answer you right away, eyes searching yours for what, you didn’t know. “You can tell me anything, Top, you know that.”
“I’m think I’m falling in love with you,” he admits after a beat. Your mouth falls open in shock, and Topper mistakes your reaction for rejection, starting to pull away from you. Unable to think of any other way to show him how you feel, you throw a leg over his lap to straddle him and pull his lips to yours. Pulling back to breathe, you rest your forehead against his and mumble against his lips, “I think I am too.”
banyan tree - And you dropped the note and we changed key. You changed yourself and I changed me. I really didn't see us singing through this. Then you screamed the bridge, And I cried the verse, And our came out unrehearsed. Then you smiled the whole way through it, I guess maybe that's what's worse. - Mayday Parade
Uuuuugh Sara I love you and god I love me some good Mayday Parade!!!!
Let’s stick with the pop punk vibes!
“You hate to say it but you're not okay. You love this game but you know that I won't play. She's 23 with a teenage dream another pull of this and it's all done, and for the record, in her eyes she's second to none. From the pills, cheap thrills and nicotine it's like I'm digging up a picket fence. There's nothing worse than losing confidence, I still lie awake with the memories.”

Day Four (October 31st) - I Think About You (Austin and Ally) - Drew Starkey Imagine
When you first met Drew, you were getting out of a long term relationship. You had no interest in dating someone who was only here to film and then move on. You had no intention of falling in love again so quickly. Drew had felt the same way, knowing that he would only be here for a few months. Yet, something kept bringing him back to the coffee shop you worked out.
At first it was harmless flirting. He would order coffee from you and compliment you from across the counter. He would always ask you for a recommendation and prolong the transaction, but you didn’t mind. He was cute and charming, a breath of fresh air. When he asked you to come watch filming, Austin encouraged you to take the offer. The boys were always acting as Drew’s wingmen and eventually you took the offer. On your day off you went and saw Drew in his natural habitat. He was stunning. Even though he was playing the villain, you still saw all the depth in his character that made him so likeable.
You spent more and more time with Drew throughout the summer. Even though you cherished the friend you had made, Drew made you anxious. You could feel yourself catching feelings for him and you were scared of falling for him and getting broken again. You were finally feeling like yourself again and didn’t know if you could pick up the pieces again.
The summer passed and you remained friends with Drew, just friends. However, as soon as the crisp autumn air rolled in, your relationship changed for the better. Both of you had finally given into the mutual attraction and starting dating. It was like a daydream. You went through the motions without a care in the world. He did everything perfectly, it was like magic. After two months together, you were sure that you had found the man you were going to marry. Even after filming finished, he balanced his time between South Carolina and LA, not wanting to be away from you for too long.
Balancing his time was hard though. He was a busy person and when he was visiting you, it was taking time away from what mattered most to him, his career. He didn’t tell you that though, because he didn’t want to make you feel bad. However, it wasn’t hard for you to notice. After a while, he was checked out when he visited you. You noticed his absentmindedness and his snappy behavior. At first you thought that you had done something wrong. You tried to pay more attention to him and be by his side, but nothing helped.
You stood in front of him one day, trying to ask what you had done wrong. You just wanted to know how you could fix it. The day was supposed to be special. You were celebrating his birthday and wanted to surprise him with something amazing. You were finally ready for him to meet your family and had bought tickets to bring him home with you for the holidays, but he had other plans. As you asked him what you could do better, he realized that he wasn’t being far to you. He realized that you deserved more than what he was giving you. You deserved to be given all the attention in the world, which was the one thing he couldn’t give you right now. He looked you in the eyes and told you that it wasn’t working out. He told you that he was exhausted from jumping back and forth from his career and you. He told you that acting was more important.
You just clutched the envelope in your hands behind your back. You slipped it into the waistband of your pants and nodded. He looked down at you, but you could look at him. Instead, you stared at your shoes, tears streaming down your face and dripping slowly onto the pavement below. It killed him to see you make yourself so little, but letting you go was the only thing he could do. He thought it would be the best for you.
A couple months passed and things were dismal for the both of you. You tried to ignore the heartbreak you felt by spending some time at home. Being around your parents and little siblings made you feel a little better. As for Drew, he spent most of his time in LA with Austin. He tried to get you off of his mind, but everyday he thought about the way you shrunk down and asked him what you were doing wrong. He loved you so much, but the split second decision to let you go ruined it all.
What you didn’t know was that every day Drew thought about you. When he woke up in the morning, he thought about what it was like when you were fast asleep next to him. Every night when he went to bed, he thought about you giggling next to him as the two of you watched Netflix. Every moment of every day, you were in the back of his mind.
Austin told him to message you. He told Drew to reach out and maybe you would understand. Austin knew that you would understand, but Drew was scared. Plus, every day that passed made it that much harder to reopen his heart to you. How could he walk back into your life after breaking up with you like that?
When April came around, you flipped through Netflix and saw that his show was there. You were back in South Carolina and had nothing better to do, so you flipped it on. You watched him and remembered how he embodied his character. You watched as he was fully in his element and began to see things from his eyes. This was what he was born to do. Still it made you cry that you never stood a chance. You wished you could forget him completely, but there were so many reasons why you couldn’t.
When OBX was renewed for a second season, Drew’s anxiety spiked. He didn’t know what he would do if he saw you. He was dying to see you, but he was ashamed. He wondered if you crumble when you saw him or if you would stand tall. He hoped you would be the bubbly girl that he loved. He prayed that you were okay.
When the crew got back to South Carolina, Austin told Drew that he was going to get coffee. Drew looked at him with worry, knowing that Austin would try to talk to you if he went there alone. He didn’t want you to know that he was drowning without you. The two of them walked in together, not even knowing if you still worked there. However, there you were. When he walked in, your eyes locked. You stared for a second thinking that this was all a dream, but he was there. You averted your gaze and bit your lip, trying to hold back some tears. You wanted to pretend you were fine, but you just couldn’t because you still thought about him all the time...

Day Nine (November 11th) - I See the Light (Tangled) - JJ Imagine
You always watched from the window as the other kids played outside. The other pogues ran around and had fun, but you were stuck inside taking care of everything else while your parents worked. If it wasn’t household chores, it was working at your mom’s flower shop. Even though you were the one on the inside looking outward, you always felt like the outsider looking in. None of them really knew you and I didn’t know them.
When the hurricane rippled through the town, chores became the least of your worries. Your backyard was destroyed and the shop was a mess. Your daily tasks and any sort of fun that you had planned for the summer took the backburner while parents tried not to spiral. The more they tried to fix our living situation, the more they fell apart. The more they fought, the more you felt like you were suffocating.
You laid on the beach as the moonlight shined down on you. The sounds of the waves crashing against the shore always seemed to sooth you. You were completely lost in thought, but all of that was interrupted by the sounds of yelling coming from down the beach. Your headshot over to where a boy was kicking the sand and throwing his hat down. You glanced over him, trying not to stare at his meltdown. You knew instantly that the boy having a tantrum was JJ Maybank. You also knew that he would be incredibly upset if he knew you were there.
Instead of saying anything, you laid there silently. You shut your eyes and pretended to be anywhere else. You were finally tuning him out when a shower of sand pelted your face. You shot up and stared at him. He looked at you like a deer in the headlights, obviously shocked to see someone else here with him.
“I’m sorry, y/n,” he said. You were shocked. You had never once spoken to JJ, but he did have a bit of a reputation. That reputation didn’t include apologies or knowing the names of girls he’s never spoken too. You muttered that it was fine glanced out over the black ocean. He knew by the look on your face that you were in a less than ideal mood. “Can I sit down?”
You nodded and the two of you sat there in silence. Even though neither of you spoke, it was nice to have another human being by your side. Occasionally, he would steal looks at you, wondering why he had never walked up to you before. You weren’t an unapproachable girl, you always just looked busy. Too busy for someone like him.
As the days passed, the two of you found yourself enjoying each other's company at the beach more often. Every night that you needed a break from your home life, you went to lay on the beach. Every night that he felt like losing his mind, he joined you. The first few times, the two of you were too scared to say anything. However, you eventually grew comfortable enough to tell him about yourself. He sat there and listened as you told him about all the reasons you didn’t have somewhere else to go. At first he didn’t say anything, but after a while he understood you more. He understood you well enough to want to help.
One night you sat with him as he flicked his lighter open and shut. You wanted to ask him what was going on, but you didn’t think the two of you were that close. You looked over at his face and saw that look he makes when he’s upset. You could always tell by the way he shows his lower teeth. The crooked teeth would catch your eye and even though he was upset, every detail about him made you happy.
“Are you okay?” you asked softly. You worried about overstepping boundaries, but you couldn’t ignore it anymore. He nodded, shutting you out. I sighed quietly and laid back into the sand. The clouds were covering the sky and there was no source of light other than JJ’s lighter.
Upon hearing your sigh, he looked over at you. You had closed your eyes, but you still looked beautiful to him. He wanted to open up to you, he really did, but he didn’t want to scare you away. The problems you had were fixable and he also knew how badly you were working to get out of the OBX one day. He didn’t want to get in your way. However, you took his dismissal as a lack of trust. You felt him lay back next to you and you flipped to face him.
“JJ, are we friends?” you asked. He was taken back by your question. Of course the two of you were friends, how could you think otherwise? “It’s just that you never talk to me… Like we talk and I talk, but you don’t.”
He knew what you were getting at. He glanced over at you and frowned at the look on your face. He never wanted to see you looking at him like that. You flipped back over and looked up at the clouded sky again. You weren’t expecting him to open up anytime soon, but he was full of surprises. As you closed your eyes, he began to tell you about his homelife. He told you about his mom who dipped and his dad who hated his existence. You listened as he told you about how the only family he really had were the pogues. You loved how vulnerable he was being with you.
As he opened up to you, something just clicked. It was clear that you were meant to be here, next to him. As the conversation finished up, the fog lifted and the stars shined brightly down on you. It was like looking at a brand new sky. The two of you stared at the new found light. He looked at you as the starlight reflected off of you. He couldn’t stop the smile from forming as you stared happily up at them. You glanced over at him and your eyes met. The same feeling welled up inside of the both of you. It was warm, real, and bright, like your world’s had somehow shifted for the better.

Day One (October 28th) - You Are the Music in Me (HSM 2) - Rafe Cameron Imagine
You sat on the couch and flipped through your book. It was filled with myths and tales from decades ago. There was nothing I loved more than fairytales, the good and the evil ones. You were so engrossed that you didn’t even notice Rafe enter the house. The beautiful light blue cover of the book caught your boyfriend’s eyes as he passed.
“What are you reading?” he asked as he opened the fridge. He plopped down next to you, still sweaty from his round of golf with Topper.
“Grimms’ Fairy Tales,” you said as you continued to read. You didn’t even look up at him as he wrapped his arm around you, craving some attention. He pouted as your eyes floated across the page. You were reading about Sleeping Beauty and how horrible her actual tale was. Your eyes furrowed together as you read about her slumber. Upon seeing the sadness on your face he asked you why you read those children's stories. “Something about the words once upon a time, make people listen. Fairy tales are like dreams to children. There’s that chance you’ll find laughter or your own happily ever after.”
Rafe smiled at you in admiration. He loved the way your brain worked. He kissed your cheek as he thought about the words you had just said. Your attention never left your book, but you smiled as he showered you with attention.
A few days passed and you were still nose deep in your book of fairy tales. The difference between the lovely Disney versions and the written stories were mind blowing. You even began to question the glamorized version of love that was presented to you as a child. As the days began to add up, Rafe saw a change in you. His happy-go-lucky girlfriend had been pouting more and more. He really knew something was wrong when you walked into his house and threw the book down on the couch.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” he asked, poking your cheek. You turned to look at him with a sulk. He chuckled at you as you sighed.
“Nothing’s as shiny now that I know the real stories,” you said. He smiled and kissed you gently. He told you that they were just stories and that you shouldn’t take them so seriously. “These shaped my childhood Rafe. I grew up wanting a love like those Disney movies.”
“And you have one babe,” he said with a smile. He gently moved some hair out of your face and gave you a loving gaze. You knew he was right. Rafe never had the best first impressions or reputation for that matter, but when he met you, he wanted to be better. When he met you, he felt like he had known you his whole life. He couldn’t explain it because there was no name to describe how it felt. “I’m saying words to you that I’ve never said and it was easy.”
“I love you,” you said, taking the words out of his mouth. You were intoxicated with the way he looked at you. He saw the real you. Every word he said echoed in your head. You leaned forward and placed a kiss on his lips, smiling against him.
Even though you knew that you had a love like a fairy tale, Rafe continued to remind you of it every chance he got. He would open the car door for you like a perfect gentleman. He would tie your shoes for you when they came undone. He would even cook for you after a long day. You couldn’t help falling more and more in love with him.
Midsummers finally rolled around and you had completely forgotten about the evil book of Grimms’ Fairy Tales. Rafe hadn’t though. He was determined to give you that princess moment you deserved and this was the perfect time to do it. You were at home, getting ready with your family. Your little sister was strutting around the house in her fancy outfit. You giggled as she made faces into the mirror. You glanced into the mirror yourself. The light blue fabric complimented your skin nicely and your makeup was light and natural. You knew Rafe would be blown away no matter how you looked, but still you wanted to impress him.
Right on cue, you heard a car outside. You smiled excitedly in the mirror before walking towards the door. You heard you mom tell you that you had to stay at Midsummers, knowing that you and Rafe would want to dip as soon as it started. You chuckled and agreed. Your dad told you that you looked beautiful and to not stay out all night. Once again you agreed and ran out the door.
Rafe was leaning against the car, his eyes staring at you as you walked out. He let out a huge breath of air as you rendered him speechless. You did a quick twirl for him, smiling from ear to ear. You walked down the steps and to the car, expecting him to open the door for you, but instead he pressed his lips against your forehead and slipped his arms around you. One of his hands ran delicately through your hair and the other rested against the small of your back.
“You are the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen,” he whispered as he stared down at you. His blue eyes stared at you and you could feel yourself being drawn in by them. In his eyes, you got more perfect each day. In your eyes, he would always shine brighter than anything else.
The night was slow and boring, but none of that mattered with Rafe by your side. You danced around with you friends as well as his, just trying to enjoy the get together put on by the parents. Finally, the night was coming to a close and a slow song rang out through the cool summer air. Rafe held out his hand to you and asked if he could have this dance. You nodded happily and accepted his hand. He pulled you close as the two of you swayed with the music. When you heard love songs like this the both of you knew that you belonged together. Every lyric, every beat, every note brought you here to each other and neither of you would have it any other way.
