It seemed as though each low brought better highs, better moments of clearer reflections on the matters that made it all much more worth living. Among those thoughts came ideas at times, many of them which were dropped due to a lack of willingness or energy, while others became challenges to him, which he aimed to achieve, sometimes with a delay of few months, sometimes it only took him a week. One thing he had been pushing himself to do, and since a long time already, was to do some volunteering work. While being someone with strong opinions, he remained quiet and subtle on some topics where he wanted now to explore a little more. Something that would not be related at all to what he always described as being what made him stay alive.
After having done some research, it was clear for Tsuzuku that animals were the way to his heart, and any cause that had for aim to protect them won him over completely. Having given some money for some causes of that sort before, he wanted, for once, to do something different, something that could perhaps have a much greater impact than simply dropping few coins into a little bucket. Having befriended few stray cats in the past few months, it was clear that those stray felines roaming all around Japan had given quite an image of the country even internationally, but it was also a problematic that needed to be fixed in the healthiest way possible.
Rescuing the abandoned felines, spaying and neutering, those were the steps that Tsuzuku also thought were logical to fixing this issue while also saving the life of those cats which could otherwise die of malnutrition or from the weather at a young age. With the sensitive heart he had, he didn’t even dare thinking of this ending, and preferred to focus on the positive actions that he was putting into volunteering for this cause and the group he decided to help. There were many associations he could choose from, but his choice stopped on this one, merely because it was one he had heard of more than once.
His researches on this group had also given him an insight on the way they worked, the techniques they used, but also the many artists and known people who had offered their help for the organization. It seemed inviting, and Tsuzuku did not hesitate to contact them and offer his help as well. There were many ways of helping in the association, be it for phone calls, the reception, helping the rescuers, all depending on the level of experience. Tsuzuku, who did not have any professional experience, was then put in charge of the reception of the volunteers and directing the visitors to the cages containing the animals that had been rescued and put for adoption.
Among the volunteers, a list had been given to him, names of artists and known personalities that had showed interest before in helping out. Tsuzuku, though aware of his implication in many causes, never expected one day to be given the chance to call Sugizo. Though hesitant, the phone call was ended on a positive note and the confirmation of the other’s presence for the big event that would be held at the end of the same week. Tsuzuku was looking forward to it. Not only was it to meet with the man, but also the chance he would get to spend some time with animals, something that always brought a great joy to him.
When the day finally came, Tsuzuku had made his way to the location rather early, wanting to help for what was left to prepare before the arrival of the visitors. Between waiting at the front and helping out preparing the cages and folding comfortable blankets for the animals, Tsuzuku was a tad nervous. Events that expected so many people was a source of stress that he managed however to handle rather well, thanks to the help of the animals’ presence. The context was completely different than what he was used to, and he found it to be helpful.
Hearing the bell from the front door, the vocalist left his position in the little back room and headed over to the front desk. That was when he saw Sugizo. It felt quite impressive, intimidating even, to be in front of such a great man that had inspired and helped so many, and Tsuzuku could not help but feel so little next to him. A wide smile across his lips, which he would find almost impossible to take away, he walked over to the taller man. “Thank you for coming, Sugizo. Your help here will be greatly appreciated. I’m Tsuzuku, I’m the one who called you.” he explained, after which he greeted the man of a deep, polite bow.
