Plot: A major event is when the sand storm hits the area Shabanu and her family lives in. The storm has blurred their vision, and the family prays for the storm to end. The storm buries the shrubs, and plants; Shabanu finds a baby camel in the sand

Characters: Shabanu- Shabanu is nervous throughout the chapter, since her sister is getting married and traveling has been difficult due to the tormenting heat and the lack of water for the family.
