hello! i have to do an activism project for my women's studies class, and i've chosen to talk to 8th graders about gender in the media. basically just to try to get them started on their awareness of the media around them and to look at it critically. but my issue is trying to find material (photos, videos, tweets, etc) that are age appropriate. meaning nothing sexual and bodies have to be pretty much covered. do you have any ideas?

Well, marketing for toys for kids is HIGHLY gendered, so that's a good place to start.I'd also look at examples of ordinary things that have recently started being marketed as having a "just for men" version. There's a lot to choose from there.

i live in silverton, oregon which is home to the first openly transgender mayor! and he's also my boss and he got voted out this year and it's super disappointing :( but so cool he was mayor to a little hick republican town. just wanted to pay tribute to that!

I'm sad to hear he was voted out!
