Shad x Massey Hall x Saukrates - Mar 27/2015

Shad rocked Massey Hall earlier tonight. There was so much love and positive energy.

Zaki Ibrahim performed for an hour before Shad. She blew us all away with her versatile music range.

Saukrates came on stage to perform “Stylin” - that was crazy!

Eternia joined to perform “Love Means.”

The rest of his set was so on point.

After the show, we waited around outside and ended up meeting Saukrates and his girlfriend, who’s Mos Def’s ex-wife. She’s so extremely supportive of Saukrates, it’s great to see. They’re both super humble, and she was extremely nice and invited us to Saukrates’ next show in Toronto in April, for which he said he’s going to put us on the guest list for. She insisted that she was going to look out for us and chill with us while Saukrates performs.

It was a great night. Apparently Shad was holding an after party and invited people to come via social media and I didn’t find out until after I got home unfortunately. I wish I heard about it while at the show, would have definitely gone.

Either way, tonight was amazing beyond description. My hands still hurt from clapping.

My musical hero, icon, and role model, Shad, has been selected to host CBC’s Q, permanently replacing Jian Ghomeshi.

I read the news and I cannot explain in words how happy I was. I remember voting for him not too long ago on Twitter and genuinely believing that he would make a great host. But then to witness that hope become a reality was so incredibly overwhelming.

All the best wishes and positive vibes for him as he embarks on this new chapter in his career. And for his fans, I feel like it’s also our journey as much as it is his.

Truly, “the biggest thing out of Canada since Pamela’s double-Ds.”

It's too cold. I hate cold. Every year around this time I can't help but ask myself why my parents chose Canada of all places..

It's getting colder

I had a followup interview on Saturday (Jan 24) - not saying for what yet because I'm still waiting for a call back 

I'm taking magnesium to help balance my melatonin levels so I can regulate my sleeping cycle again -- and let me tell you, I've been sleeping like a baby once I knock out

A prof. I had last year invited me to speak to her class about my book and I went in today and it was honestly such a humbling experience 

I have a couple of projects planned (solo and collaborative) but I'm currently too busy with school to actually focus/start them 

Waiting for my friend's album release - I've literally been waiting since 2010 for it and if all goes well it's on;y a few more weeks away 

Looking forward to May so I can be done with this program

I SEE SHAD AT MASSEY HALL IN EXACTLY 2 MONTHS (MARCH 27) AND I AM SO EXCITED

I know this is still seven months away, but I bought tickets last night to see Shad play Massey Hall in March and I’m super excited! I got really good seats too. The man is honestly my hero. I just want to fast forward to March already.
