Shadowfist: Netherworld Return
@shadowfist
In the centre of the ruins, a man sits, legs crossed, elbows resting on his knees, eyes closed. Though the forest outside is noisy with signs of life, the trees seeming to take a breath with every gust of wind that rushes through their branches and bushes shifting as small creatures run through them, the dilapidated wood still stands strong enough to block all these sounds out.
Here, in this quiet pocket of the world, all is at peace.
Zed inhales, in through his nose, holds the breath, then exhales it back out.
He feels like a liar, pretending as though he could possibly be as peaceful as the forest around him. Ionia — both her citizens and the nation’s spirit — know him to be a reaper of chaos, a bringer of death. Even now, he thinks he can hear the island chiding him softly, asking if he is going to suck the magic out of this glade, too.
Zed takes another breath, then releases it. He has to calm down, he has to allow himself to let go of his rage and disappointment and frustration and guilt and fury and simply be at peace.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
He allows his hands to fall, placing one palm onto the ground and feeling the energy thrumming through the earth.
No other nation that he has ever visited holds such a strong connection to the world’s innate magic. In Ionia, he can draw upon the energy around to empower his attacks, to release his anger, to truly feel at one with the world.
Inhale.
If he concentrates, with the help of the world and the Shadows, he can sense the heartbeat of a bird stopping to peck on a fallen berry, of a snake slithering across the ground—
Exhale.
—Of something — someone — far larger than either of those, moving silently across the dirt and onto the stone floor.
Zed should have noticed her sooner, but — No, he must keep himself calm, cannot allow himself to light up the sparks of anger burning deep in his chest.
He takes another breath, releasing it slowly, then settles on interlacing his fingers together in his lap.
“You came. I’m surprised.”

Dark Alliance, Kowloon, and the Weird West
Lately, my gaming menu has had a really satisfying mix of digital dungeon crawling and tabletop chaos—honestly, exactly the kind of balance that keeps the hobby feeling fresh. On the video game side, I’ve started digging into Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance on the PS5, and I’ve got to say, I’m enjoying it more than I expected. Going in, I had pretty tempered expectations—I’d seen some of the…
Neon Ghosts in the Walled City: A Feng Shui One-Shot
Tonight’s session of Feng Shui hit exactly the kind of high-octane, neon-soaked chaos the system thrives on. We ran a one-shot titled “Neon Ghosts in the Walled City”, and from the jump it had that gritty, kinetic energy—half crime thriller, half supernatural urban legend, all style. Chance stepped into the role of Jack Heart, a Maverick Cop with just enough authority to get things done and just…
