Back- or at least added to- by popular demand! Enjoy some hurt/comfort as Ladybug and Chat Noir have an important conversation.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Ladybug sat on their beam on the Eiffel Tower, looking out over the city they protected. It wasn’t just her and Chat Noir anymore, they had built up a support team over the last few years- though not without some misunderstandings along the way. She still felt guilty about that- about unthinkingly shoving Chat Noir so far to the side in those first few hectic months after becoming the Guardian that she didn’t notice how much she was hurting him. Yes, she’d been overwhelmed and floundering, but that didn’t excuse her thoughtlessness. Still, this spot on the Tower was “their place,” and she smiled as she thought of that.
She’d done her best to keep Chat Noir in the loop since finding out about the rift she’d made between them, and their relationship had improved. It had never gone back to what it had been before Master Fu passed on the guardianship, but they were solid partners and friends, and that was the best she could hope for until Shadowmoth was finally beaten, and his stolen miraculous safely in her possession.
And now… well, now she had a solid lead. She just hoped this wouldn’t be the one thing to break her partner permanently. She still felt chills when she thought about that moment she realized what had truly caused his akumatizations all those times. A broken heart, yes, but not for the reasons she’d assumed for all these years. Hopefully the care package she’d prepared would help to cushion the blow at least a little.
“Hey, LB,” Chat Noir said, rising up on his baton in front of her and stepping lightly onto the beam. “It’s a beautiful night,” he said, sitting down.
Perhaps even a year ago, he would have followed that up with some flirty line, maybe telling her that it ‘wasn’t as purrfect’ as she was, or perhaps asking if she’d had some ulterior motive in calling him out. Not now, though, she thought suppressing a sigh.
“Yes, it is,” she said, smiling at him. “Which is why I’m hoping what I’m about to do doesn’t ruin it for us both.”
