Yes, yes he has. He’s pretty proud of that fact, too. More than once, too; sometimes in groups and sometimes one on one. Getting to have a foursome with Adam, Shiro, and Keith was probably his favorite.

Identifier: Lance McClain Known Associates: Blaytz of Nalquod (mentor), Emperor Alfor (commander), Princess Allura (ally), other Paladins of Voltron Engagement Protocol: Isolate and engage at close range. Bayard is a sniper rifle, eyes are cybernetically enhanced to aid in long-range shooting. Assume dangerous at all times, even if seemingly incapacitated. Notes: Lance was the middle child of an extremely large family, and he grew up scrappy and desperate for attention. Blaytz found a young Lance in the middle of an incredibly dangerous attention-grabbing stunt, and recognized in him the same confidence and reckless eagerness that had made Blaytz such an eager Paladin. He was taken in and raised with the other Paladins, and under Blatyz’s mentorship became not only a theatrical showman, but one of the finest snipers in the galaxy, going so far as to have his eyes enhanced with cybernetics to increase his abilities. He is a hedonist to the highest degree, seeking pleasure wherever it might be found, and is therefore the Paladin who interacts most with the public outside his “official” role as Alfor’s enforcer. Drugs, sex, and homicide are his vices — because there is no thrill for him like the thrill of the kill.

Identifier: Keith ░░░░░░ Known Associates: Coran of Altea (mentor), Emperor Alfor (commander), Princess Allura (ally), other Paladins of Voltron Engagement Protocol: Engage at a distance, and only in groups. Bayard is a sword; also carries a ceremonial sacred dagger. Extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat and fully in control of sacred Altean magic. Notes: Like Shiro, Keith was handpicked at a young age. Born of an Altean parent and a human father, Keith found little place in either civilization until his father tired of his “monster” son and dumped him on the streets, where he found Shiro. They bonded rapidly, and their combined combat prowess, even as young as they were, caught the attention of Alfor and Coran. Coran chose Keith, recognizing in him the same fanatical devotion to Shiro that Coran felt for his Emperor, and Keith took to Paladin training like breathing. His devotion is first and foremost to Shiro; although he serves Alfor gladly and takes his orders, he loves the Black Paladin. The Red Right Hand of Voltron is the stuff of nightmares and whispered legends, and much like his beloved commander, his name is spoken in whispers if at all. Keith is not known to have received any enhancements beyond what has come naturally from the maturation of his abilities as half-Altean.

Each of these has some cool animal symbolism going on; Sachi went out of her way to find death omens to tie to each of our characters, and thus we get those neat titles attached to each of the pieces! I’ve basically been dying and coming back to life as each of these were delivered because I love every single one, they’re all absolutely amazing and convey exactly the right amount of “here to fuck you up” that should be conveyed by these terrifying badasses.

I’ll probably share more miscellaneous details on this AU as time goes on, because I’ve got a lot of headcanons. Also more fics. Always more fics.

Identifier: Katia Holt Known Associates: Strike-Commander Matt Holt (brother), Trigel of the Dalterion Belt (mentor), Emperor Alfor (commander), Princess Allura (ally), other Paladins of Voltron Engagement Protocol: Isolate and attempt capture. Bayard can extend, be wary of attacks at multiple ranges. Notes: Katia Holt had every chance to be more than what she became. She had a loving family on Earth, but her brilliance shone early, and she was quickly noticed by Trigel and swept away to be raised into the successor to the Green Lion. She grew into a brilliant scientist without peer — and also without regard for life, except that of her team, or for ethics or morals or anything but advancement. It’s rare for her to kill someone delivered to her, because they’re far more useful alive, and she has all sorts of methods to ensure they stay that way for as long as she needs them.

Identifier: Hunk Garrett Known Associates: Gyrgan of Rygnirath (mentor), Emperor Alfor (commander), Princess Allura (ally), other Paladins of Voltron Engagement Protocol: Engage only in groups. Bayard is a heavy cannon and armor boosts strength and speed. Notes: Hunk’s early days were spent in abject poverty, starving on the streets, before Gyrgan found him building a water purifier from scratch and was impressed by his instinctual technical know-how. As a student for the Paladins, he learned more refined methods of building and of destruction. He works closely with Katia, and the two of them develop much of Team Voltron and the Empire’s weaponry. He leaves a trail of destruction in his wake, whether working alone or as part of a team.

Identifier: Princess Allura of Altea Known Associates: Emperor Alfor of Altea (father), Coran of Altea (mentor), Paladins of Voltron (allies) Engagement Protocol: Do not engage. A fully-trained Sacred Altean in touch with her powers, Allura is a dangerous and little-known threat. Notes: Not technically a Paladin, but works closely with them. The Crown Princess of the Altean Empire, Alfor’s beloved only daughter has been raised her entire life to take up her father’s mantle. She is polite, refined, and elegant — and also cold as ice. She has little compassion or remorse, and gladly lends her extensive magical powers to the Paladins’ battles. The dark Princess is loved and feared by her subjects in equal measure, and her arrival is as welcomed as it is feared.

Identifier: Takashi Shirogane Known Associates: Emperor Alfor of Altea (mentor), Princess Allura (ally), other Paladins of Voltron Engagement Protocol: Do not engage. Bayard is a blade enhancement for replaced arm; full capabilities are unknown. More information about combat abilities must be gathered, too few survivors. Notes: The oldest of the Paladins, Alfor hand-picked him as his successor as the Black Paladin after watching a young Shiro successfully overpower and kill a grown Altean soldier in combat with Keith’s help. From then on, he—like the other Paladins—was raised on Altea and taught to be a killing machine. Whatever good nature he might have had has long died, and he revels in his duties as Alfor’s enforcer and the High General of his armies. Shiro is brilliant, one of the finest pilots in the universe, versed in tactics and strategy, and utterly merciless. People fear to speak his name, lest it summon him, and the sighting of the Black Lion in a system is treated as an omen of death. As a young adult, he chose to trade his flesh arm for an enhanced Altean cybernetic, which bonds with his bayard to form a deadly bladed gauntlet.
