The pwca looked like a fox that evening, but Teifi recognised it anyway. Its black fur shimmered in the light of the setting sun like fish scales in water, and its eyes were unnervingly human. No matter how it tried to disguise itself, the people of Moriad had long since learned what it couldn’t hide.
