So they say...
It is not the sound of silence,
the rhythm of loneliness,
the dull drumming in your ears at 2am
& the dying out of your whimpers as the sobs finally end,
or the fight for a symphony of stillness.
So they say...
It is not the endless ache,
the hole in your heart or stomach,
the ache that sends you to your knees,
screaming internally for release from the open planes,
clawing your way out from your insides.
So they say...
It is not the voices in your mind,
that chant endless hexes upon you,
exposing your deep fears,
Shining too bright a light on your lifetime of wounds and insecurities,
the fight to remember they are not true.
not.your.words.
It is not hoping,
wanting something good again,
wanting to believe,
always believe what you knew from the first moment and in everyone since,
it is moving on, letting go.
So they say...
BUT WHAT IF;
what if it was all that too?
What if it was the sound of a smile,
the whistle through the drains,
and the puff of contentment at the end of a spoken sentiment.
What if it was the skip of your heart,
or the surprise of a joy,
and the daisies on the dashboard after a night of dreaming.
What if it was the passion of connection,
maybe just in the touch of hands,
just inside a quiet moment, still and warm and full and whole.
What if it was a feeling beyond words,
or too big to tie down,
what if it was frightening and exciting and hurtful and healing.
So I say...
love.
light and dark.
day and night.
good and bad.
pain and joy.
his and hers.
yours and mine.
So they say...
It is blind...
So i say...
Let it grow in the dark and grow in the light,
for if it is truly blind,
like a child, innocent and free of judgement,
it will still grow.
