I've finally gotten around to reading ASoSE -- after putting it off quite a while for fear of emotional devastation -- and ahhhhhhh, it's so good! Really enjoying your look at squire!Dunk's life in the castle and how you capture the lads-being-lads atmosphere of the tourney circuit.

Love the new chapter as well! Poor Dunk getting fuel dumped on the fire of his unfortunate crush in the worst way. <3

And I suspect things are only going to get more painful and awkward if/when Lyonel realises what's up.

I'm having a lot of fun making the lads get up to stuff and it's so nice to hear that it rings true! tourney stuff will be scarce in the next chapters, but we will be back with that eventually!

and dunk is - once again - truly going through it and will for a good while yet have to contend with that, i fear haha

@shadowvalkyrie:  Oh yeah, my pet peeve! That's why the early seasons were good even when they were bad: class consciousness, subversiveness, an outlaw perspective. They took that away, and now the plots are on the cheap side of generic technicolour adventure bullshit. There isn't any of that underdog anger left that made me love this show in the first place.

yeah and there’s so many little things that just make the shows tone soo different what it used to be in early seasons. 

the shows aesthetic is not here! even riverdale looks moodier than supernatural. witches are now supernatural beings instead of normal ppl using animal remains etc to summon demonic powers etc, the fact that we used to get side characters like gordon, jo, ellen and bela and now theres characters like rowena, eileen, jack and charlie (who literally thinks hunting is some fun adventure?????) who just dont seem to belong into the same show. now they use some weird scifi machine to get into ppls minds instead of dream root, i could give so many simialr examples what make the show feel just Opposite of what it used to be

like it can be even seen how even if death never stopped winchesters, it used to matter more. in s2, when john sold his soul with dean, it was a thing that affected dean SO much (like deans survivor guilt for that is the reason we got dean’s line “whats dead should stay dead” and that sentiment was one of the reasons what set dean to a journey to sell his soul for sam), and like coming back from death always had consequences, in faith, in my time of dying, children shouldn’t play with dead things lazarus rising etc etc, and now sam can just use magic to bring his gf back and theres literally no consequences

I haven’t yet, but I did spend some time once contemplating a scenario where the whole serum adventure, in addition to making Steve big and strong enough to fight all the fights his heart led him into, was gender-confirming. It... didn’t quite seem like my story to write and promptly got crowded out by a lot of others, but yeah. That would probably be my ftm Steve story.
