Question 9: Can they drive? Are they good at it?

Can Meleia drive?  Yes.  Is she good at it? She’s fine, she’s not going to hit anyone or anything.  Does she like to do it? No. Absolutely not.  She can get herself to all the basic places she needs to go, but she gets super nervous about places like highways when there’s tons and tons of other cars around (or honestly tons of anything around, it gets super overwhelming) and she has absolutely no sense of direction, so she has to keep the GPS on almost constantly or she will get lost and panic.  It’s much easier when she has music playing, or when she has other people in the car.  

Damian’s definitely the best driver.  It comes from driving his younger sister around pretty often, and just generally enjoying being able to grab a friend or five and just go somewhere.  

Chimalus can technically drive, but they never really needed to.  They were basically a Rich Kid for a while, so people tended to do the driving for them (which was much more their father’s idea than their own).  Chimalus much prefers to do things on their own, so if they need to get somewhere they prefer to use their bicycle or taking public transporation.  They always prefered to stay under the radar, even when they were still in line to run their dad’s company. (Yeah, stuff happened there, it’s a long story).

Meleia doesn’t usually use reactions (she’s the least tech-savvy of my apprentices) but she NEVER gets tired of Surprised Pikachu. She’s also fond of Kermit reaction pics, especially this one:

Writer things I used to do

Overuse metaphors -  I used to use them recklessly and as much as possible, now I can tell when using one would enhance the story

Try to Ignore my style of writing - Your style of writing is awesome, and yours. It’s okay if you haven’t found it yet, but when you do dont try to throw it away

Describe EVERYTHING in detail - Some things need to be detailed. Sometimes you can get away with a summary. But don’t try to describe every single object in the room

Not do something because it’s ‘cliche’ - Do it. Rock it. Not everybody can write like *insert fabled greatest writer here*, take what you know and make it great

Try to be something I’m not - I’m not a poet. I’ve never even seen the appeal of poetry, that doesn’t mean it’s bad. I just like admiring it from afar. No use forcing myself to write things I don’t have an interest in. Alternatively >

Try to ignore something I am - I’m a songwriter. But up until this year, I insisted I wasn’t good at it, having tried it five years ago when I barely knew ‘accept’ from ‘except’. If you think you might like it, try it. If you like it, keep working at it. I promise you don’t get great at what you love by sitting and expecting it to write itself

Not study English and writing - Study it!!!! Read!!!! Make time to read a 800 page book!!! Get inspiration! I promise it will make things fifty times easier

Completely cross off things because they ‘don’t interest me’ - Why don’t I like them? Whatever it is, I can probably make it interesting if I start writing it

Follow ‘Writing Rules’ - No! Break the rules. Understand why they’re there, first, then say “fuck it, I’m going to write it how I want it to be read”. This is your story, not theirs.

Not Write - Seriously, this is the worst one. And I can’t just ‘sit down and write’ like people tell you, I need specific circumstances. But don’t put it off. Do whatever you need to to write, and just fucking write already, damnit.  What are you doing here still reading this?

The Last Time We Go Shopping

an attempt at writing for @the-stonedsoldier about Stucky/Stuckysam. Bucky is very done with their shit.

Bucky trudged along sullenly, struggling with both his boyfriends’ bags from their shopping spree in the mall. Just because he was a supersoldier didn’t mean he appreciated the two bags around his neck, eleven on his arms, and four tied around his waist, all because Sam and Steve were too lazy to carry anything. And then, they had the audacity to run off together, leaving Bucky alone in the mall, with people staring at him. The last Bucky had seen them, they were in some electronics he forgot the name of, trying to figure out what to get Natasha for her birthday. But after that, he had dropped all the bags to tie his shoe, picked them all up again, and they were just gone. Now, three floors, fifteen clothing stores, and one cafeteria later, he still couldn’t figure out where the fuck they had gone, and he had no way to text them, either, not that he could reach his phone if he tried.

Heaving a sigh, he started backtracking toward a stand he had seen on his earlier trek across the entire mall. It took him about seven minutes, but he finally reached the help desk, where a single brunette sat, watching people boredly. However, she perked up when she noticed Bucky coming her way.

“I lost my son, could I make an announcement?” Bucky asked tiredly, dropping the bags on his left arm. Immediately, the girl nodded. “Of course!” She replied, handing him a microphone and turning it on.

A ways away, Steve and Sam were laughing, with a couple bags each slung over their shoulders casually. Pausing when the PA system burst to life, they listened as a familiar voice began to speak.

“Attention, Stevie and Birdboy - Goodbye you little shits.” Bucky growled, before it abruptly ended, leaving Sam and Steve looking at each other worriedly.

Rushing outside and back to their car, the saw Bucky slamming the trunk closed. “Buck!” Steve called after him, skidding to a stop. “Where did you go?” He asked innocently. “Yeah, man, we were looking for you.” Sam chimed in. Crossing his arms, Bucky quirked an eyebrow at them. “Where did you go? I was looking for you everywhere.” Nervously shifting, Steve glanced away. “Uuh…. we.. may have been in Ikea, we found some really nice things for the apartment.” He said. Waiting for a few seconds, he frowned, looking up as Bucky didn’t even bother replying, simply walking over and getting in the driver’s seat. Starting the car, he rolled down the window to glare at them.

“I can’t believe you two. Get in the fucking car.”
