This BLT Turkey Burger is a tasty take on the classic BLT sandwich. It has toasted burger buns, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and tangy red onion on top of juicy Shady Brook Farmsr ground turkey patties.
Ingredients: 1 lb Shady Brook Farmsr ground turkey. 6 slices bacon. 4 burger buns. 4 lettuce leaves. 2 tomatoes, sliced. 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced. 4 slices cheddar cheese. 1/4 cup mayonnaise. 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard. 1 tablespoon olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Set the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat to heat it up. Make 4 burger patties out of the turkey. Add pepper and salt. After cooking bacon until it's crispy, drain it on paper towels. Spray olive oil on the burger patties and cook them on the grill for 5 to 6 minutes on each side, or until they are fully cooked. Each burger should have a slice of cheese on top during the last two minutes of cooking. Let the cheese melt. On the grill, toast the burger buns until they are just barely golden. Put mayonnaise and Dijon mustard in a small bowl and mix them together. Cover the bottom half of each bun with the mayonnaise mixture. After putting the lettuce leaves on top of the mayonnaise mix, add the turkey burger patties. Put bacon, tomato slices, and red onion on top of each burger. Place the top half of the bun on top and serve right away.

So i had the best weekend! Friday @ work was a blast and i got a few haircuts in. I even got to find out a client of mine knows some of my fathers best buddies! Worked at a prison with him. See- we do know people in low places haha. Watch out- i got my back up missy ;-P Friday night i got to go to a fun Halloween Party With my family from work- Everyone loved my costume and the fact that my Zombie response vehicle went along with it.. (my transformed piece of shit car haha) and i won a handmade Hobo Crochet bag!! All the proceedes went to a cause for helping stray kitties!! Like my Izzy was. Boss man fed us all drinks and we danced the night away. Saturday was eventful- we all showed up hungover and well lets just say nicole and i almost died. Literally. Ed has it all on video on his fb from his video surveillance around the shop. We went out to his wifes car to get some things and a huge accident happened right in front of us. The final car in the mix up landed/slid five feet from us in the grass,. I froze up and had a panic attack. Sandy had to calm me down from my state of shock. Not good :( Nicole had to push me out of the way so i didn't get hit by flying car parts before she ran like the wind for 911.. Lets just say that mini van and that nice little sporty honda won't see the light of day anymore. I was so fucked up from it he let me go early. Mike had to pick me up to bring me to my car at koris and follow me home so i felt safe. But it worked out- once i made it to his house we got to watch his precious doggies all night and order pizza in with his brother. Sunday was a blast- in the evening we went pumpkin picking at Shady brook farms and drew on some itty bitty pumpkins too! <3 We picked up a tasty pie for dessert and ate with his family. Momma Chalmers made homemade pumpkin ice cream to pair, and the feast was exceptional. Tonight is aunt amandas birthday & party and i can't wait- hopefully we can go get some drinks after like planned. I am currently counting down until halloween! <3 I love you all followers- even though you don'T SAY SHIT TO ME but constantly reblog my stuff. :-P
More than 150 people took over Shady Brook Farm in Lower Makefield on Sunday to remember the victims of the recent Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut.
Lauren Reed from Falls and Kaitlyn DiSantis from Bristol Township used Facebook to organize a flash mob to spread a positive message and help people in a difficult time.
“We wanted to bring the community together and do something good to honor those people affected by the tragedy in Connecticut,” said 27-year-old Reed.
About 40 adults and children stood in front of a Christmas tree stretching 20 feet in the air and sang the Michael Jackson song “Heal the World” while holding up 26 signs, each bearing the name of one of the victims from the tragedy at Sandy Hook. More than 100 onlookers sang along and some teared up during the rendition.
“I have a 1-year-old daughter and couldn’t fathom what the parents at Sandy Hook are going through right now,” said Pennsbury graduate Amanda Palacek. “This could happen anywhere. We’re seeing more security at schools around here and I have to explain to my daughter why there are police officers guarding her school now who weren’t there last week.”
Reed, who has a 9-year-old daughter, said she got the idea to organize the impromptu concert after watching an episode of the television show “The X-Factor” where contestants performed a musical tribute to the victims of the Dec. 14 school shooting.
“It was a crazy, spur-of-the-moment idea that I ran with,” said Reed. “Social networking made this possible. I made a page for the event on Facebook four days ago and by today there were already 104 people who had confirmed that they would come out and show their support. Word of mouth also helped get the message out.”
David Fleming Jr., co-owner of Shady Brook Farm, said he was overwhelmed by the girl’s heartfelt idea.
“They reached out to us yesterday, after their first option for a venue didn’t work out, and it was a no-brainer for me to welcome them here,” he said. “For them to create something that helps people express their feelings is really amazing.”
During the past week, reports have emerged of people all over the country performing random acts of kindness toward strangers, said Fleming, a Middletown resident and father of four.
“Recently at the Shady Brook light show I’ve seen people paying for the car behind them and they don’t even know each other,” he said. “Through all of this sorrow there is a strong sense of community that has emerged.”
For one volunteer singer at Sunday’s event the horrors of the shooting in Connecticut hit close to home.
“I wanted to be a part of this because I am a mother and I know someone who was deeply affected by the tragedy,” said Sharon Fleck of Plumstead.
Fleck attended Council Rock High School with Francine Wheeler, the mother of a child who was killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting.
“It’s unimaginable what anybody in that community is going through right know, let alone Francine,” said Fleck. “I’m happy to be able to spread a positive message during this difficult time.”
Palacek agreed with Fleck.
“This is an example of people caring selflessly about each other,” said Palecek. “It’s not about the quality of the singing, it’s about the message.”
Reed said she was happy to be able to get people together for a good cause.
“I thought we could spread some joy at Christmas in honor of the children who won’t be able to celebrate the holidays with their families this year,” said Reed.
